Let me just say, that as someone with board and bat buildings, here in the northeast, cluster flies have become a real issue. They hide in cracks over the winter, and wiggle their way into my house. They are outside in mass on sunny days, sitting on the sides of the barn, the shed, etc. OMG - Inside I have bug lights with sticky paper, I swat at them constantly because they zing around and get in my hair, my ears, my coffee. I was unloading the truck the other day when it was sunny out, in March, in NY, and the cluster flies were smacking me as I was carrying feed. I finally resorted to a Bonide product that is a premise spray. I did our shed doors and some other areas where they just sit in the sun, and by golly, in a few hours they weren't there any more. That was last week. Now it's snowing and there aren't any at the moment, but I have my fingers crossed that I have found a spray that works. I didn't want to resort to that with all my animals, but it is for barns....hoping it really is safe. The dogs and horses weren't near the spray. Anyway, maybe that will help someone else.
