We actually play - when you pickup a storm card and there are two blocks and a downward arrow... it's the two blocks that move south which means the storm moves north.
@MrThreedots10 жыл бұрын
Not sure whether you guys corrected it later, but the direction on the storm card is the direction u push the tiles. Not the direction of the storm (hole) moves.

***** You are so right. I had to look at my manual to verify, they are doing it wrong. It's so confusing how they were moving the tiles around board. Their way of thinking is so off. You see the tile of the square and it has a right arrow moving right. It even looks like the arrow is taking the tile to the right. So, the tile goes to the right. How they came up with the idea that the storm is going that way and the tile is going the opposite direction is beyond me because they are so good at looking at the manual when playing.
@DaidoujiSempai9 жыл бұрын
Exactly. And they also forgot that you have to assemble the pieces at the end of the game when you are in the "Launch Pad"
@Aranneas9 жыл бұрын
chocoboblue99 I think their way is much more intuitive, honestly. It's the *storm* that's moving through the desert, after all - otherwise the tiles are getting blown around backwards.

DUDEEE!!! They totally could've won...! :( When Aaron used the item card that lets him check under an un-excavated tile at 1:02:06, he should've also used the Secret Water Reserve at that time since everyone was on the same tile thus giving each person 2 water. If he had done that, the last card being a Sun Beats Down was the perfect card to get, because any storm movement would've ended the game, but they would NOT have died of thirst from the Sun. It would've been such a clutch WIN on the last card!!!! Oh well... One wrong move costed them the win!
@vortexsblazingtime65386 жыл бұрын
Well at least it's a good game. They should probably pay attention next time. They tried. Oh well, the Sun and Sandstorm wins this one for a screwups.

There's a way they could have won: On Dave's final turn, Lincoln could have given him the Time Throttle, granting him two additional actions. Dave could have moved up to the tile Aaron was on, and used the Climber ability to bring him back to the launch pad, immediately ending the game without having to flip those last five storm cards.
@KrashmanVonStinkputn3 жыл бұрын
Lincoln didn't have the Time Throttle. That was a leftover card (1:13:13)

Y'all keep saying the Solar Shield protects the tile. The exact wording was "You and other pawns on *your tile* may ignore the effects of Sun Beats Down until the start of your next turn". It didn't matter for this example, but it's the tile *the person holding the solar shield* is on, not the tile they were on when it was deployed. This interpretation is confirmed in the BGG forum - apparently the designer was surprised by it too but agreed it was legit :D This only matters when the shieldholder deploys it mid-movement, though.

I think the main reason it's easy to lose this game is that people assume that the 'bad' cards (Sun beats down, storm picks up) stay bad all the way through when actually as the game goes on its the sand that is the most dangerous as the majority of cards will drain your supply of it.
@robertbrookes20003 жыл бұрын
While I like this game there are some elements I think could be improved: - Having everyone randomly select their characters already makes the game harder, if you have 4/5 players but no water carrier the games basically over. - I'd add something like: If you end your turn on a well tile, gain one water. - 4 and 5 player games are much harder than 2 or 3 as you have more meters of water to balance throughout the game.
@Room-dr9by8 жыл бұрын
I thought you had ro shuffle the desert tiles and place them randomly at the start of the game?
@steelbeard1518 жыл бұрын
You do. I don't know why they were placing some of them in specific locations.
@franckitef28 жыл бұрын
Yes you should, but Aaron decided to place the three oasis (without knowing which one is the dry one) in specific locations to not have them all in the same area because of randomness. I tend to do the same, because it's really hard to walk across the board when all the water supply is in the same spot.

@robertbrookes20003 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's the problem with the game for me. Especially with more players, as if you have 5 it's a lot harder to balance everyone's water than with 2 or 3. I think the Well tiles could be improved, maybe if you end your turn there you get one water?

The way Aaron and Dave teach these games... one after the other... is amazing. You can tell not only that they know what they're saying but they've actually already played the games they're teaching many times. Considering the incredible number of games they have shown on the BGG channel, they are really a living cyclopedia. Unfortunately... to really grasp the challenge (not the fun but the challenge) you need a group of experienced players (true both in co-ops and in competitive games) that ALL know what they're doing. That's why the guys ALWAYS LOSE. :-))))) Let me see how this is going to turn out now (I'm just at the 5th minute and I already bet 1$ they're losing lol).
