Just played this last night for the first time. Wow 8 years later and it's still an amazing game. After watching you guys demonstrate the importance of variety in location and what you produce I'm very keen to play again. Thanks for the playthrough.

the more playthroughs i watch of this game the more i realize how amazing of a design it is...simple gameplay...play a card..do what it says....but what that simple action presents is what makes this game a classic...

Very late, but thank you for playing this. For few years now I wanted to try this and just recently got it on Steam so I am about to play my first game of it soon.

I just picked up this game and have watched several "how-to-play" videos, and your explanation of the rules and game play was by far the best and easiest to follow.

Right? Play cards the whole game, and most points win. Can't get much clearer than that!

This is such a great game. We play it with 3 players (me my wife and daughter) and every game is different. This is one of our favourite games we have. For only having to play one card, it gives so much options it so great.

You guys are doing amazing job as always! The video quality, rules explanations, camera shots and your passion all create very engaging experience for watchers. Love your vids, I bought Concordia recently and just wanted to see it played before my first attempt.

Fun playthrough. This has been on my 'top ten games I want' for years and it was sitting in our FLGS staring us in the face. Was a hard choice between Concordia, Azul Summer Pavilion, Lords of Waterdeep, Tzolkin. Ended up getting Concordia AND Azul because we want to support the local stores when we can.

@lystic93924 ай бұрын
@@chaldean7043 Amazing! I had a great time with it ^_^ I super recommend it. And the rules are pretty easy too. Just tell the players how the scoring works at the start and at the end of the explanation, because that part is the only real tricky part and is easily forgotten about during the first play.
@chaldean70434 ай бұрын
@@lystic9392 how about the actions on the cards that are bought, are they different from the starting cards? Because I read that they were more powerful, I’m concerned that some will find it complicated to have more actions to choose from.

Concordia is an amazing game...one thing I love to do is actually put the resources token a place generates from prefecting right on the province token in the upper left of the board. It tends to make it pop more and easier to see. P.S Game Night is amazing keep up the great content.

1:32:22 The Romans actually had ideas for a canal trough Gallia, but the hills were a problem. Many years later, in the 17th century, the Canal du Midi (Canal of the South) was contructed.

Slight correction regarding the colonist card (8:30). With it players can add new colonists in cities where they have built OR also in Roma. Dave is correct, though, that the tribune card only allows adding a new colonist in Roma. Nice video, as usual.

40:29 Game winning move by Aaron, if Dave had not inadvertently cheated a little at the end. Does that card get errata-ed in salsa, or have they fixed it in newer copies?
@chayashida8 жыл бұрын
What did you mean about the "cheating?" I want to make sure I don't make the same mistake when we play. EDIT: Dave mentions it at 1:53:23. The Diplomat card he bought at 1:23:04 costs a tool, not a food. EDIT 2: I found out that in the version that's out now in stores (in the US) has the corrected card. Look for a Concordia box with the wine-colored wall (and not the beige one that's in the video thumbnail).

@argel12006 жыл бұрын
Apparently sometimes he even reads through the rules a half hour before they start playing. He's crazy good at it. Really handy for a show like this.

After you read so many rulebooks, and play so many different games, it becomes easier to absorb up the rules of new games because they all use the same kinds of game mechanisms; generally speaking. Many times I teach a game, it's the first time for me playing it as well. Other Board Game Geeks I know can relate.
@TorSverre3 жыл бұрын
Yup, gotta agree with Charles here. At some point it just becomes second nature. If the game I wanna teach is really complicated, I tend to do a practice round or two to get a feel for the flow, but usually just reading the rules is enough.

I'm just now hearing about Concordia. Usually games like these bore me and I go for something else, but I have been on a Concordia viewing bender. Been watching/reading reviews and trying to find other playthroughs. Really thinking hard on snagging a copy of the game for myself. Does anyone here recommend this game and would my family that usually play normal board games like Sequence/Monopoly have a good time with it?

Excellent video, excellent game. However, I can't wait until I get my you tube channel up. In this particular game the best opening move(if you are 1st player)would be to the spot in between Syracuse and Athena and build a wine and a brick house. If 2nd player or after, the spot in between Syracuse and Dyrracheum(if still available) would be an excellent move building a brick and a cloth house. As for the pronunciation of Mercator, wouldn't it be like senator? I believe the long haired fellow got it right, though pronunciation isn't a big deal. As for Roman legend, the wolf's name was Kayla, according to Livy. More when I get my channel up. JCH

oops in this game dyrracheum is a brick city. why are there only 3 cloth cities?

Beginner optional rule, everyone calculates their score first time they tribune to see how everyone is doing so that they understand how well their strategy is working for them.
