As a musician, I can barely explain how good these guys are. Its not just the sounds, the processing of their sounds, the sampling and tape techniques, the dirty drum beats, but the music itself is so unorthodox, yet brilliant. They do things that you never hear anywhere else, but they somehow make it work. They are the total package.

I feel like I'm having a panic attack right now. When I was a teen I discovered Boards of Canada, and I can remember how incredible this music made me feel. There was such depth and beauty to it. I would listen to hours of this, just thinking about life and the universe. It was great. Now I feel nothing. Such a strange claustrophobic feeling losing the meaning in something that was so beautiful to me. Is this what it's like getting old?

I am the shipwreck with its scattered and soaked wood littering the ocean like a nest of roaches. The water smothers me patiently, and it waits to feel my body on the ocean floor. I am the captain. I stand on my ship, never leaving its side, for tonight I sleep in a sharks stomach. The tears and rain both hit my face, as I lay on the deck and wait to drown. I am thunder. Hear me roar as I deafen all. I conduct my orchestra as loud as possible and conclude with a violent smash. I am washing the splinters from within my heart and I scream as it pumps. I let my lungs fill with water as the broken bath tub leaks. Let the clouds be Witnesses

But the clouds replied 'the paraffin on the roaches cleaned the nest and the captain cannot sail on flames'. 'Oh no' said clever eye it is possible 'im' when the waters are ants and yet the bath tubs leaks sploshible without 'im' what an evil fiend you are. The orchestra a din of old lightening that tempers ye not in the knotted storm or form o hail o why is my mouth a gag? My lungs fill with fire alas a deadened water to break that bath tub as it must. Pearl Jam did it for me when i was a teen, then björk, then massive attack, then alice in chains, then chemical brothers then math rock started doing it: 65 days of static, and so on... and right now boards of canada does it. Music can grant you a level of immersion that few things can, and is a fantastic level of head clarity when you reach it. It is all hidden in the music patterns. Search for it: There IS music that can do this to your head. Your taste grows with you. Cheers

Spot on man. It sounds very sentimental and everything, but their music really plunges you into another dimension. I have regularly listened to an entire album with my earbuds in before sleeping. It's a shame most of the tracks last for only 2 or 3 minutes, but on the other hand I think it's beautiful how they managed to suck you in to every single track within that limited amount of time. Boards of Canada truly is an amazing duo.

This is such a good track to listen to whilst thinking about humanity. I’m reading ‘homo deus’ right now, it really explains so much of our history and present so beautifully… some of the revelations I feel when reading it make me want to almost cry of pure awe and wonder. There is so much to learn. There is so much I don’t know, it’s dizzying. This music exposes the unknown and invites me to swim in it.

@TerminalFrost Marcus: "The hexagon theme represents that whole idea of being able to see reality for what it is, the raw maths or patterns that make everything. We've always been interested in science and maths. Sometimes music or art or drugs can pull back the curtain for you and reveal the Wizard of Oz, so to speak, busy pushing the levers and pressing buttons. That's what maths is, the wizard. It sounds like nonsense but I'm sure a lot of people know what I'm talking about."

We are not meant to fully understand time and space, we are on a different time and size scale than the universe. The tip of a pencil looks solid but as you zoom in you find out that it's really just a lot of empty space. (much like our universe) Size defeats us and will always defeat us. There could be another earth on the other side of the milky way and we would have no idea it existed because the light would take one-hundred thousand years to reach us.

If we were visited by a farther neighbor, they would either have had to live through the long journey, potentially live indefinitely, or figure out a way to quickly travel around the galaxy or universe. If they are eternal, or hav rapid travel, they shouldnt need or want anything from us
