Here's the thing. This story illustrates how the work of industrious Blax and allied Whites is undermined by racists. Mr.Purcelle respects Daddy White's work and treats him with dignity and respect. After the lynching do you think he'll contract out to another Blax man? If a different artisan is approached by a prosperous White will he work with or for them? And then allied Whites feel insulted, hurt or unfairly grouped and stop offering or interacting. THAT is American Racism. Most dont care but the ones who do damage the gains that are made.
@deanwinchester80424 жыл бұрын
smoothcollected Yes but the actual percentage of people who were all the way for the cause and did it for the greater good of humankind is infinitesimal. The people who fought in the civil war were drafted, and none of them were doing it for blacks, they were doing it to prevent secession. When he said “through the front door!” I became so ashamed with the history of this country there was a time people like me or Chalky White couldn’t even think about walking through the front door of a building. Never ever shoulda been that way.
@ronyeahright95363 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but then you should have thought further about the history of this country, and remembered that brother fought against brother, tearing the country in two, with death and misery for 4 years to rid ourselves of slavery. We didn't have to be overthrown by a foreign power; we did it ourselves. What other country would do that? PS....the United States didn't invent slavery; slavery has existed for thousands of years in many if not most countries in the world even before the USA was a country. PPS; today black people are more free, successful,, safe and prosperous than in any other country on the planet, and that includes countries on the African continent.
@treroney47203 жыл бұрын
@@ronyeahright9536 that doesn’t take away from what he said. And yes the Arabic slave trade and African slave trade came first, but there’s a big difference between endangered servitude and cattle slavery
@ronyeahright95363 жыл бұрын
@@treroney4720 of course slavery was wrong, but thats hardly a new revelation. By the way, slavery still exists today on the African continent, and elsewhere. Maybe those that want to keep bashing the USA for things that were done over 150 years ago should direct their attention to the slavery that still exists today.
@markdavidson14983 жыл бұрын
@@ronyeahright9536 you seem sadly misinformed about history of this country and the current state of how black people are treated here and around the world.
@ronyeahright95363 жыл бұрын
@@markdavidson1498 then why dont you educate me ya moron? I gave you some facts about slavery STILL existing today on the african continent, and elsewhere....and like the true liberal coward that you are, you just ignore it and tell me how "misinformed" I am, completely without any facts at all. Why are liberals like you such cowards?
