shiz777 Like Narcisse being Caribbean...Chalky gave him the game of how America is...Blacks who "been" here since slaves know how it is....blacks from other places don't know until they come here. Chalky knew what they would do to him. Him being from another place thinking he could apply what he had learned from there here in a segregated country like America was at the time. Marcus Garvey was in a since naive when people like Booker T and Deblois were trying to convince him of what America was. He thought he could change things in an instance. Different times...but the Caribbean blacks didn't know how America fully worked at the time until they started to experience the same treatment as American blacks. Narcisse was naive all the same...and in the end it caught up with him.

I AM SECOND Yea but whites wasn't thrown in camps and starved to death after slavely, nor were they segregated from society after slavery. They also was granted rights while us so called "blacks" were still slaves while the declaration of independence was written. And when were "blacks" enslaving other "blacks"? Because from my knowledge Africans exchanged their war prisoners to the European's, Africans hate us "blacks" from America because we are called African American's just because of our skin color but we don't come from Africa, that's really a whitewashed lie embedded into history books

Out of the many death scenes in this show, three struck me hard, and it's because they were my favorite characters. Jimmy Darmody, Richard Harrow and Chalky White. Now Jimmy and Richard were both amazing and I was very sad when both died. But Chalky was different, his death hit me different. The part where he hears her singing in his head and closes his eyes nearly made me cry, and I don't cry to movies or tv or stuff like that easily. Chalky's death was the only one that actually hurt. It really sucked seeing Jimmy and Richard die, but in the end they had it coming to them just based off of the situations they were in. But Chalky could've killed his rival and maybe even gotten away, and instead he willingly gave his own life so that his little girl might have a chance at a life without interference from his worst enemy in Narcisse. He gave himself up so that they both could live. Chalky was a hero.

“Ain’t nobody ever been free.” I don’t even understand that line but I love how it seemed to piss Narcisse off
@lamaredward222 күн бұрын
That line correlates to what’s been going on even today and what blacks have to do to truly change that. “ ain’t nobody ever been free” means that until blacks as a whole get under one roof and do the work to get better we will always be in shackles. It’s not gonna be done in weeks months years decades or centuries; this is gonna take so long for it to get done but the sooner we get together the chances the sooner our descendants can be in great position. The character Narcisse couldn’t and never understood that concept Chalky was saying. Further more if you look deep into it if both of them were together in the slave period I believe chalky would be considered honest real men that would’ve sacrificed his own life for family and on the other hand a guy like narcisse would be the type of guy that cheat his way through everyone and will sell you out for his own survive similar to what he said in this scene but his misguided self always will fall short. Them last words truly hurt narcisse that’s why he kinda did a long pause right there because truly inside he is running away from the truth and chalky just rubbed it all in his face before he died.

IMHO - the two best characters in the series. And in a weird way the plight of African American America, really. Chalky's instincts, his grasp of reality - his ability to move in confined spaces and find ways to thrive, thrifty, grounded but ruthless... and Narcisse - a brilliant, educated, worldly man with ambition, cunning and a thirst for justice. Put them together - they're literally the perfect human for America. But unable to function together. It's all our plight. But in an intriguing way - the struggle going on in black America to this day. The struggle between what makes them great- and what they aspire to be - and finding the unity among each other and the leadership to lead them there. In spite of everything in society working aggressively against them. Sad, but incredibly potent portrait.

Chalky was an awesome character. He was one of the few that had any sense of loyalty and he was always concerned about the people that looked to him for leadership. I've always hated how he died because I felt like Chalky was too smart to fall into such an obvious trap. Even if Chalky was ready to die, I don't think he would do so until he knew for sure that Daughter was going to be taken care of. I can't see him just trusting the Dr. to keep his end of the deal. I have to admit, it was a beautifully constructed scene though.

I love the look on Valentin’s face when Chalky said “ain’t nobody ever been free”…he knew that Chalky was correct about that and it pissed Valentin off because he considered himself to be superior to Chalky in every way possible…and even the thought of Chalky being slightly more intelligent than Valentin believed him to be really pissed all in his cornflakes. It was Valentin’s larger than life ego that caused him to fail and be killed due to his extremely bloated sense of confidence. He spent his life trying to prove to everyone, white and black, that he was better, smarter, and invincible to the point of being virtually immortal. And when he got cut down by the very people he looked down on and judged, it was so fucking satisfying.
