It wasn’t intimidation that he did that. Nobody could intimidate him. He just would get tired of hearing something or didn’t want to keep arguing about something he would do it. It being slice throat or try to have Nucky killed. He was scared of no one. Plus slicing his throat instead of shooting like manny prob expected showed what level jimmy was on as a bad ass.

Allen Iverson I think that scene had more to do with Jimmy’s inability to navigate obstacles within his business. He made poor business decisions and was inexperienced with power plays and positioning at the top. Jimmy was an effective soldier he wasn’t a very good politician. That’s why at the veterans memorial opening Jimmy came up to Nucky and said “you don’t think I know how to play this game?” And Nucky says to Jimmy “I don’t even think you know the rules” it all ended up being true unfortunately

@@deathrager2404 Yes, Michael Pitt was hard to work with, however, storywise, i think was also the feeling that Manny gave to jimmy, like a father authority figure. As we all know from jimmy's upbringing, that never set in well with him. For starter's his relationship with the commodore, or the reunion with the elders at the mansion when he got hit by one of them for not taking things seriously, ending in a reckless retaliation. As @Brendissimo points out, Manny's patience was strong, specially towards jimmy because, eventho the meeting was a success and he saw in jimmy a man on the come and saw him as a kid that could learn, he knew business was business, 5k or 500k didn't matter. By the time Jimmy pushed doyle off the second floor at babbette's, he knew jimmy didn't have what it takes to keep his affairs in order, or learn by that matter.

That's a valid point. And if we're going by actual history, Waxey Gordon pretty much ran Philly for a time. He was basically Arnold Rothstein's representation in Philly as that's where the liquor came in for a time.

IMO, Boardwalk Empire was the best all around show ever. "The wire " is a close 2nd but, BWE has an unbelievable amount of set design, wardrobe, and period auto mobiles that was an Herculean effort to get just right.

I think the reason why Nucky didn't seem to mind that Manny killed Angela was because Jimmy basically killed her when he fucked over Manny. When I rewatched this season, I see this scene in a different way. First it seems like a friendly meeting between Manny and Jimmy, but the second time, you realized Jimmy doomed Angela. And every scene with Angela, you see a dead woman. Quite sad.

ISUPK KENTUCKY those are rules made up by Hollywood to romanticize and glorify the mob but in real life there were none, sure they had some guidelines and agreements to keep things civil to a degree, but anyone and anything was fair game. Families, relatives and friends were always getting killed because they were close or related to someone who was involved in this kind of business.

ISUPK KENTUCKY Jimmy set his family up to be touched when he started conducting meetings out of his home. It's why Remus commented on it, when they meet. Not only is it unprofessional, but it's flat out dangerous in that line of work. All it takes is one snitch (Mickey) to give up information, and he had good reason, when Jimmy got too bigheaded by throwing Doyle off the ledge infront of Manny. Even though, Capone or Luciano were probably gonna whack him eventually. Jimmy didn't have the makings of a Boss. He knew how to enforce, but was sloppy at running an operation. Soured what could've been a good alliance with Philly, over a 5K advance. Had Jimmy honored his word, Manny would've been out of town muscle like Frankie Yale to Capone.
