My Dad who is in his 50s, started using KZbin for the first time like three months ago, and the only Channel he has viewed is yours lol. He has been repeatedly telling me "Do you watch KZbin, there is a Channel titled "Sailing La Vagabonde", this family sails around the world on a boat, you have got to watch it". So here I am, and I must admit you are very positive, and just a joy to watch. Dad if you see this, I have accomplished the mission lol!!

Thank you for starting a fundraiser in regards to the fires. In my extended family we lost 2 homes on nye. One in conjola and one in Bateman bay. It’s truly devastating. I am so grateful I haven’t lost any of my humans but the same can’t be said for everyone in this country. That and the loss of wildlife and bush is truly breaking my heart though. Anyone from Australia reading this please in the very least leave out some birdseed, fruit and water for the animals regardless where you are. Even without the fires the severe drought is severely affecting all wildlife so please help them in even this small way. Every little thing makes a difference. Much love x

You guys have got me in tears!! I thought I couldn’t cry anymore for our country but clearly you’ve hit a cord with me and I’m so grateful we have Aussies like you guys supporting such a needed effort to rebuild such a beautiful part of Australia. I’m in NSW and have many friends who have lost everything, we’ve had a shit time here since October really and by the start of December it was getting beyond anything any Australians had ever seen or could imagine and then before our eyes it just got 1000 times worse, we’ve lost so many Australian people, RFS volunteers and even 3 Americans who came to help our country fight a fight that’s no where near over and the now over one million in wildlife that been lost also is beyond devastating but it’s still getting more devastating by the day! It’s. Unbelievable really!! Even just now I’m watching the ACT being hit really really hard, it is really such a hard thing to describe, and to see and hear the heartache from all of the losses, and the continued loss is heartbreaking but amongst that you’ve given me hope, Thank You. It’s heartwarming that you are using your platform you’ve created to support such a worthy cause and you’ve by far exceeded what your planned target was and that makes me a bloody proud Aussie to see you doing just that. I personally cant wait until you guys do, one day, come home and show our country off to the rest of the world by sailing around our great country. Thank You, Fair seas to you all and take care xoxoxo

"boat jobs" which are a continuing part of being on any vessel. Don't forget to always take cable ties(more than you think you need) and small cutters for any visit up the mast, some lube, and at least 1 adjustable wrench, pair of water pump..or 'channel lock' pliers, and some electrical tape. Still have a little belt pouch I used anytime going up. The fires have been absolutely horrendous, and have donated already, in fact have been a supporter of the The Port Macquarie Koala Hospital for many yrs. back, having visited starting in 2008, in fact there is a picture of me on a old wooden sailing ship there we visited at that time. Even though I'm US born and bred. (www.koalahospital.org.au/act-now ,for anyone that wants to help them too) But must admit, all my support had been for NSW, and for that reason, and because We must all help, just got back from donating to your fund for SA, and K.I. in particular. Even though I'm of limited means right now, we all have to save this incredible area. This world is smaller than we think..and everyone of us needs to realize when something happens somewhere, it affects all of us! Sorry for the book I've written, but it all needed to be said, hope you lot are well, and Lenny gets any cuter he's going to be a movie star ;)

Ahoy maties, You're sailing here in my old fishing grounds on these New England adventures. I grew up on Connecticut's shoreline and summered on Cape Cod's Nantucket Sound. Good times fishing for Strippers and Blue's in August and September. Martha's Vineyard has a great Stripped Bass fishing contest in the month of September, after most of the summer crowds have dissipated. The locals love it and good eating for sure. Lenny's looking great and getting to be quite the little adventurer. The terrible two's will be the next challenge as he learns to toddle and scampers about. You'll have to put a harness on him and tether him to the boat. My brother's two boys were on leashes for a couple of years whenever he was aboard his or other boats. They didn't like it too much but that's how it was handled. Captain's orders mate! I'm now in southern California and can sympathize with the fires in AUS. We have loads of Eucalyptus trees that burn like mad when the weather blows hot and dry. They were imported from Australia in the late 1800's to provide timber for railroad ties in the dryer reaches of SoCal. It's a real tragedy about all the wildlife being so devastatingly impacted. My thoughts, prayers and sympathies to all those impacted. ------------- If you are recording video after sunset, and have good luck with clear skies, you might catch Venus and the Moon as you travel around. Venus is often mistaken as a UFO because it gets so bright. Binoculars add to the view. Bright Venus (the 'Evening Star'), now well above the sunset twilight, is the lone, very bright point of light above the western horizon. It sets a few hours after the Sun. Currently, Venus is getting higher each successive night as it comes around from behind the Sun (superior conjunction). It will continue to get higher until March 24, 2020 when it reaches 46 degrees east of the Sun. It will achieve it's greatest illumination on April 27th, 2020. Venus will pair nicely with the waxing crescent Moon in successive months on the evenings of Jan 27th & 28th, Feb 25th & 26th, March 27th & 28th and April 25th & 26th (a good one!). Venus will then begin to descend quickly in the month of May to have it's final conjunction with both the Moon and Mercury on May 23rd & 24th, before disappearing into the sunset around June 1st. It then passes in front of the Sun (inferior conjunction) to become the 'Morning Star', slowly rising each day in the eastern twilight before sunrise, come early June and on through the rest of the year 2020. Jupiter and Saturn are still on the far side of the Sun , but will soon begin to rise in the eastern morning skies. Jupiter leads the way by about an hour and then Saturn will follow. Come February, they'll both be up before dawn and will get one degree higher each day. Follow them all year long as they close in on each other for a 'Grand Conjunction' on Dec 21, 2020 (Northern Winter Solstice), and by then in the evening sky. These Grand Conjunctions happen only every 20 years, so it's worth it to follow along now. ------------- When in the southern hemisphere's summer (late Dec or early Jan), the Sun travels high overhead and the Full Moon travels lower, closer to the horizon. At the same time (late Dec or early Jan), in the northern hemisphere, the opposite is true. The Full Moon travels high overhead and the winter Sun travels lower toward the horizon. When you travel between the two hemispheres, note the difference. Everything rises in the east and sets in the west. Fair enough. The trick is whether The Sun, Moon and Planets rise in the NORTH-east or the SOUTH-east (and similarly set in the NORTH-west or the SOUTH-west). The stars are constant and serve as the frame of reference (thus Constellations). It's the 23 degree angle of the ecliptic to the equator that varies over the course of a year that produces the 46 degree variance. (23 degrees north AND south = 46 degrees total. A significant and quite noticeable effect!) I'm often impressed with your images of the stars, planets and moon and would love to hear you enunciate what direction you're sighting them, as well as what the GMT time is. That will give the information needed to recon your position. I'd also love to hear you standardize your performance reports with wind-speed, wind direction (both relative and true), boat speed, boat heading, sail trim, currents and tides. If you make that a disciplined habit, your innate navigator will become well honed and be able to dead recon very well, should you have to. Sailors are made, not born. ------------- As always, love the videos and look forward to the next. Cheers! …

What's come to me to tell you is try scouting around for a vessel you can get for next to nothing, but is salvageable. Like you would do with a used car, take along an old sailor with you before you buy. Park it somewhere and work on it a little at a time until you've realized your dream. Start mate. Don't just keep dreaming. Hold garage sales, etc. to raise funds. I hope this helps.

Start reading books at your library on how to sail. That’s FREE. If you live near the ocean the Coast Guard has classes on boating regulations & safety typically free and also if you live near a marina they usually have sailing races in the warm months and typically boats are alway looking for people to help crew for free in boats like La Vagabond or racing mono hauls and marines usually have sailing lessons in small boats. And, if there is a College or University near water by you, they typically have sailing lessons too. Call your local Marina. Your library also might have sailing magazines for you to look at free. Just make the first steps. Good luck 🍀

Your video of Lenny on the stairs reminds me of a time when I was taping my oldest going up and down stairs. When he realized I was taping, he stood up to ham it up for the camera and I thought he was going to fall...the end of the video was me falling down the stairs and breaking my hand that was wrapped up in the camera (destroyed my new video camera too). My son was at the top of the stairs wondering what the heck I just did. The lesson I learned was, it's better to record from the bottom of the stairs. They grow up fast. Don't waste a single minute enjoying them.

I really wish you guys explored more of Malta and a huge missed opportunity not going to the blue lagoon and azure window what is sadly no more. My answer is a big yes. I’ve decided to buy a 4x4 and start travelling around Australia. I love your videos and I’m going to follow your channel religiously. Oh yeah and also Riley’s dad with the goats was hilarious. I actually couldn’t stop laughing and then many episodes later he comes back and goes straight back to talking about more goats 😂. 1 more thing Daniel deserved a better send off.

Been watching you guys religiously for over a year now and I finally became a patreon. 🙌🏻 love everything you guys stand for and promote so it’s awesome for me to be in a place where I can now support that financially. 💛💛💛

You have lost all control of your channel. It's no longer SLV but "The Lenny Show!" LOL Love it! He's just so ADORABLE! He has Riley's eyes too! It's so sad what's happening in Australia..so much loss...

Wow what a beautiful catamaran. I am in the RV travelling field, but this is refreshing. One of my former co workers is going to retire on a catamaran.

Love you guys. This has been great, watching you sail to Montauk, go to NYC, and now Block Island...all places I've sailed & spent a lot of time myself. Looking forward to Newport, another favorite! My heart💔for Australia.

Oh god. I can’t stand teeth grinding. It’s like taking the sounds of nails on a chalkboard and styrofoam rubbing together and multiplying it by 100
