Nice boat. The aft bedroom has those stern windows that reminds me of those three masted schooners you would see in an Hollywood pirate movie like Captain Blood. I bet under sail this 1975 boat does lots of creaking like an old schooner.

You’re a brave lady to manage to live on this boat, you certainly don’t have any luxuries. I understand people saying it’s a lovely boat but the modern ones give much more space and comfort. You seem happy and you see exactly the same as the super yachts see, this I can understand. Take care you are lovely people and British!! Xx from the uk

An interesting boat, all in all, many complex systems, and some really substantial creature comforts.. very likable folks and very nice of you to give us such and intimate look 'round your boat. I was once sorely tempted by a CSY44 with similar layout.

What an excellent Boat!! Suggestion: make sure. you get "SunPower" solar panel cells - if you add more PV and also stick in some small MPPT boxes on each added zone or each panel under your mizzen... for shade management.

CRP or GRP boats … we have changed the masts..and the sails and the elecronics and still run on marinised standart Perkins engine.. :) after all the hull is ageless..but the electronics gets outmoded by time.. the boat is 37 years old but when the outsiders look at the hull they all are amazed when we say to them ..no, this boat is solid wooden.. like the vikings long boats..it will never let you down in gales just as long as the captain does not sink it out of pure negligence …. :)

Thanks for the tour. I have a 1972 Hallberg-Rassy 35. Very similar with a center cockpit and a hard dodger, although mine is sloop rigged. I don't have an aft head which I really like on yours. I also like the storage design on yours better. Great boat! I'm still dreaming, but you're living the dream! Kudos. I was curious about the engine on your boat, is there anywhere you discuss that? Great channel. Happy subscriber. Fair winds to you.

There are two things I like about this boat design. One is the secure cockpit which provides a good work space and plenty of shelter when under sail. I like the aft cabin set-up with the three windows at the stern which provides a sense of openness in the rear cabin. The berths are large and there is plenty of storage. From a technical point of view, regarding work on the engine, plumbing and electrical, the design of this boat appears to be a nightmare, especially if you are trying to repair a boat at sea whilst being jostled around. No thank you.

Herve Riou. Sorry for the late reply . It's a small one for a house. 240 volt but only 30 of 40 watt so it runs of the 300watt inverter we have no problem. I takes an Osram bulb which has not failed in over 2 years. Sorry I can remember the make, but it was one of the cheep er one on the Internet. V happy with. Thanks for watching.

Is your bokat any simular to a Nauticat?
@RobFomenko7 жыл бұрын
Nice tour. How does she sail? When at sea where do you sleep, aft or in the salon? I really like the deep cockpit on this boat. At sea, in high winds and seas I bet it would be pretty dry. Don't care much for the teak decks, you will find them pretty hot when you get to the tropics but they do give good nonskid.
@sailingsvborabora87127 жыл бұрын
Bob Fomenko we sleep in the aft, it's pretty good back there and we can sleep crossways if it's really rolly. Agree with all your other points and we'll find out about the heat soon as we're Caribbean bound!
@RobFomenko7 жыл бұрын
Cool. I like the fact you have a head steps from the helm. Nice to have. So how does she sail overall? Pointing ability? Light air performance? Mizzen any help?
@sailingsvborabora87127 жыл бұрын
Bob Fomenko Hi Bob, she don't point! She will sail at 45 but gives substantial leeway we do better at 55 and can tighten up in stonger winds. she is not a light winded boat either we need 12kts down wind to get about 5kts better with spinnaker added or twin head sails. Mizzen adds up to a knot on a beam, but the main benifit is as a ridding sail in serious weather for heaving to or jib and jigger as they call it with no main. Benificial in really squally unpredictable weather. The sweet spot is 15 to 20 on the beam and 18 to 35 from behind. She's like a dart down wind. never come close to a broach.
@RobFomenko7 жыл бұрын
Sounds about what I figured on a heavy displacement ketch, but good to hear it. With a good sized engine and fuel it shouldn't matter much anyway, but there are times when you have to get upwind or else... I'm really liking the design. I am in the market in the next 2 years of a cruising boat, have had 2, and the next one will be for long distance shorthanded liveaboard cruising... and like the design of the Victory 40/Trintella IV as a possible compromise to the dilemma of want vs need vs budget.... you know, then you want a amel 55 but can only afford a part of her and not the upkeep kind of thing... it's all a compromise and there is no perfect boat, but one wants to get the best boat for the job with the cash available, while being as safe as one can sailing the oceans.

George Canakis Hi, yes it's more difficult, but to be honest we alway go bows to because we can't reverse with any real control. Full keel, barn door rudder and lots of prop walk. Endless entertainment for on lookers, always with fenders in hand!

Sailing SV Bora Bora Thank you for your very prompt reply. I happened on you video while watching some other sailing videos and the Yachts Name caught my attention as we recently visited Bora Bora on a cruise ship. I do wish to do this on my own yacht one day. In the early 80s, when I was a mere teenager, my dad and I built our own 43 ft ketch made of Ferro cement. We built her from scratch and proceeded to sail the South and North Pacific for 2 1/2 years. Upon our return to ‘normal’ life I made a promise to myself to do it again one day. Life happens and kids come along and the dram gets pushed back, but I’m at a stage now where I’m ready to start the challenge again. The ideal dream is to build once again but a 51-53 ft this time. Thank you for sharing your videos.
