Make sure to turn the volume up. As the title says, never ram a boat while going 40 MPH. The boat captain ends up getting knocked out the boat and into the freezing water. The accident is caught on camera!! Watch until the end...CHECK OUT THESE HEAVILY DISCOUNTED SUNGLASSES: amzn.to/3JuGXdW

As a boater with over 30 years of experience, as well someome with a captains licence, this situation was not only illogical, but it was very dangerous. According to law, one must keep a clear sight of other boats, obstructions in the water, swimmers fisherman, etc.... whenever a boat is trying to overtake another vessel, they are the give way vessel, and must alter their course and speed to ensure that the stand on vessel (the boat being overtaken), is clearly aware of the other boats intentions. Another thing that I'd like to mention is that within half a mile, all pleasure craft operators must exhibit the use of a sound signaling device. This could be anything that has the capacity to make noise, but an air horn, whistle, etc., are much more effective, pragmatically speaking. Lastly, and I'm sorry to be so technical, but you are obliged to overtake a vessel on their starboard side only. In this case, the overtaking boat passed on the port side. I don't expect many of you to truly understand this. Most of you think you're certified with a card that qualifies you as such, based merely on a theoretical test. The reality is that without a pragmatic application, you don't really know how to boat one bit, so let's get things straight. What I'm saying is also confirmed through statistics, as there is a rise in the number of boat accidents, yet more people are supposedly certified. This is called a paradox, as it's contrary to one another. The reason for this paradox is that people who should not be driving boats claim to be an expert based on their theoretical achievement. It's an achievement nonetheless, but it doesn't make someone a true expert. If I'm not calling myself a true expert after 30 years of boating (20 years of pleasure craft driving and 10 of ferry driving), then you guys are far from it. This is just the truth. If you are not a responsible driver, you should not be on the water. Ge essence of democracy is an equilibrium between granting people their rights and freedoms while ensuring individual and public safety is upheald through responsible driving. Thanks for reading James walker

Boating safety cards are idiotic, just an excuse for government to take your money if you don't have one, since there are no recreational boat driver's licenses. I've got 44 years on the water from the Rio Grande to the Great Lakes to Puget Sound, from canoes to ww kayaks to superjets, jet boats, inboards, outboards, small to large sailboats. Btw, you sound like a know it all tyrant. Democracy doesn't give me my rights, my rights are natural and inalienable.

@@Eb-ux9bz actually mid air collisions I feel like aren't as comparable to this situation. I'm a pilot myself and it actually can be difficult to spot planes sometimes even when you know the direction and altitude that their at. Most planes are white and clouds are white as well and your dealing with a lot of sun and harsh blind spots. Like most air collisions are from planes decending right on top of each other and both don't see each other. Unlike this boating accident where they clearly can see each other and have the blue water to contrast the boat colors. Much different scenario, but I understand what you were going for.

Big open water, trying to be cool, smash up expensive property and potentially injure people (strangers?), and when it settles you’re just in the middle of this tranquil quiet body of water having to deal with what you just did. Nowhere to go, and it’s gonna take some time to get back to land anyway. Woof.

I was canoeing one time with my wife on a small lake that usually didn't have a lot of boat traffic, and this idiot comes around the bend and nearly swamps us with his wake. He turned around and came back, I thought to check on us, but no, he was grinning ear to ear, and made another pass at us, but we were so close to the bank that he hit a submerged log and capsized as he was trying a hard turn to create a big enough wake to swamp us. We were on the far side of the lake from the boat ramp,, and it would've been at least 300 yards of open water to swim across to the other bank, and because this was an impounded river, there was no walking around. That side of the lake was a state forest, and it was at least five miles to the nearest gravel road, and nobody lived within ten miles. We left him there with his capsized boat late on a Sunday after everyone else had gone home, and laughed all the way back.

Going on foot at 5 mph feels fast. Thats crazy

Being from NE on the ocean... Most boats don't get much passed 20 knots. Me personally enjoy sailboat speeds even in a motor boat. It's too stressful to go that fast.

I’m a fisherman and on the weekends at my home lake I have to be off the water by about 9am because of all the dumb pleasure boaters. The things I’ve seen out there would blow your mind.

@@TheSoundOfTwang I’ve seen things similar to this video. I’ve seen a boat with a drunk driver hit another boat that was anchored at night. Also seen power boats cutting off sail boats, driving between my dock and mooring on plain. I’ve seen a drunk cabin cruiser towing two jet skis get it’s tow rope rapped around a no wake buoy which it dragged away and then ran aground on a shoal. And then smaller things like total disregard for no wake zones or direction of travel in coves or who is supposed to yield to who. As far as people just completely unaware that I’m trying to fish and annoying the shit out of me…it seems like wake surf boats somehow always find me and stay way too close for way too long. If you are unfamiliar, these boats have ballast sacks in the back and fins that come off the bottom of the boat to make their wakes as big as possible. They also go pretty slow and do relatively small circles compared to wakeboard or ski boats, so when they decide to wake surf near where I’m trying to fish (usually pretty tight to the bank) I am constantly getting bombarded with huge waves that I have to strategically position my boat so their wake doesn’t come over my bow. They have the entire 5,500 acre lake but these boats always decide to come really close to me. And one of the most annoying things is these two young girls that live near the back of the cove that my house is in. These girls are pretty young and love to ride their family’s jet skis. I don’t think their parents let them go very far from their house…so what they do is go about 60mph in and out of the cove, over and over again, for hours on end…all the time screaming at the top of their lungs like it’s a roller coaster. After about a dozen passes my ears can’t take it anymore. And don’t even get me started on the shit show that is the public boat ramp…

@@johnschauder Sounds like absolute anarchy. Thanks for sharing. I can almost picture it. In my country, motorized boats are not allowed on lakes afaik, but there are plenty of lunatics in boats near the beaches
@johnschauder
@johnschauder 2 жыл бұрын
@@TheSoundOfTwang that’s too bad because most of the time other boaters out on the water are kind, courteous, respectful and willing to lend a helping hand. I have rescued people who have flipped their canoe and were panicking in the water. The one lady was so frantic she climbed her way onto my boat right over ten rods and almost got stuck with several hooks. I towed their swamped canoe and gave them a ride back to the boat ramp. I’ve also broken down or run out of gas on several occasions and fellow boaters have given me a tow back to my dock or to a gas dock. I’ve done the same for others many of times. Despite all the chaos that can happen out on the water, most boaters respect the code that you always lend a helping hand to those in need and never leave people stranded out on the water. My brother has even been towed back by a boat that was, at the time, competing in a fishing tournament. That is very commendable considering they were working on a time limit with money on the line. What country do you live in where power boats are not allowed? I would not like that law if I lived there.
