What a breath of fresh air! Finally someone showing this type of coastal cruiser in common sea states that aren't glass calm for the 'brochure shot' Meanwhile still discussing ride, handling at different speeds and orientation to sea state. This type of review has been missing on youtube. It would be great to see you do the same / comparisons with the Finnish boats (Sargo, Targa etc) and the Rodman range from Spain. Well done to the camera crew to achieve the results here.

@@TrueFilter Thanks I appreciate that. No tracking I turn all the sensors off and fly manual. I'm generally hiding below in the cabin or sitting on the dunny and I speak with the driver so I don't fly it into any waves. Been flying drone for years so pretty good at it these days.

@@BoatLife_DansBoatLife I have always wondered what the setup is. Is the drone operator hiding in the cabin, or do you do the done shot later? Now I know! Now the question is, where is the drive hiding when you are driving? :))))

Got my 1095 2023 in May. It is great in smooth or flat waters as all test videos show, but not comfortable in choppy waters. For it's size it is totally under weight. Not the case for the Antares 11 that weights over 13,000 pounds. Still a nice boat for small body of waters. Went out Sunday, winds 10 - 15, bay waters 1 - 3ft. Anything over 15mph boat speed was uncomfortable.

I can't recall the fuel capacity off the top of my head but if you rewatch the video and see where i'm calling out the fuel flow at 22kts (i recall it liking 23kts a bit better) and then google the fuel capacity you should be able to work it out. Just leave a 10-15% reserve

Yes, this boat is on my list actually. It will likely be in Australia when I get a chance but that means we can take her out to sea and really test it. I see the whole Merry Fisher range continuing to take market share from other styles as they are a convenient family boat that you can sell second hand for a good price and they do what they say they will do.

@BoatLife_DansBoatLife
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Жыл бұрын
It's all relative. Group Beneteau (Owner of Jeanneau) build boats for specific markets. So if they know that 95% of people use a particular boat in a certain way they will build it to suit. Yes you can find much better boats from Riviera to Palm Beach, Hinckley and many of the US Center Console builders. But they are considerably higher asking prices and potentially more boat than what the Jeanneau Merry Fisher buyer needs. If you're a family guy wanting to spend weekends with your wife and young kid with the odd offshore adventure then this is totally fine. Also if you are concious about re-sale because you plan on trading up to the higher quality dream boat of yours then this is actually the smartest choice because you can always sell a Merry Fisher due to their wide appeal. So are they the best build quality? - no. Do they meet the needs of their intended users? - I would argue yes they do. Hope that helps!

Through wind chop at speed inside the harbour she was quite impressive. When heading into it in the ocean yes she threw green water over the bow and onto the windscreen. I was driving to the conditions so didn't get too much slamming but yes if you overdid it you would slam while going into it. Thats the compromise if you're going to have so much accomodation however I feel this boat strikes the right balance for who she's appealing to and what she delivers in terms of capability.

I always respect boat reviews that include running the boat, but most especially when sheltered water is left. Reminds me of a few of those reviews you did over in the English Channel, Dan. Good for you! At the cruising speed range, the boat seems to need about one MPG. Would you consider that a little high for a 6-7 ton boat of this type?

You inspired me to take anothe out out in the ocean yesterday Jack. Read your somment when we were about to start filming and I figured what the heck, let's head offshore and switch on the cameras out there so stay tuned. Re fuel consumption I don't know what a gallon is so I really need to get over to the states and get my head around how you guys think but in general the motors will be working harder when i'm pushing the thing through those waves so I would always expect higher fuel flow in those conditions. However for an entire days filming on that Jeanneau we used 71L of petrol and that included a total of three trips offshore. To get the video, stills and audio for this we did that same run out to sea and back three times and then we did a whole bunch of inshore fast running so overall consumption in my opinion for a day of hard driving was acceptable.
@jacktyler7599
@jacktyler7599 Жыл бұрын
@@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Interesting; better fuel consumption that I was estimating. We Yanks do use the 'gallon' measurement a lot. Roughly, take your liter measurement and multiply by 4. Thanks for taking the suggestion; sure looked good!

@BoatLife_DansBoatLife
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Жыл бұрын
Wind & waves were too big/strong that day for me to confidently fly the drone into the waves on this boat. The waves always look smaller on the camera for some reason but we were getting spray right over the boat going into it offshore. My strategy for getting the best out of the 1095 would be to run downwind/swell whenever possible in the ocean. Inshore into the chop she's fine and dry so not an issue there. I couldn't film that as we had 20+ kts of breeze so driving at 25kts the apparent wind for my Mavic 3 would be 45kts meaning she can't keep up with the boat. I need a faster drone...

Thanks for putting these together and taking the boats off shore, seems like you've sea trialed all the boats I'm interested in and off shore performance is what matters most to me. Of the Sea Ray 320 (Ideally OB), Jeanneau Merry Fisher 1095, and Regal 33 XO, which in your opinion performed the best? Cheers mate.
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Жыл бұрын
No worries Chris, i'm happy to hear that as I try to take as many boats in the ocean as I can for you guys. The Sea Ray shines on flatter inshore conditions as she is full in the bow which gives you that awesome interior and bow area. In swell she would be wet and bumpy. Excellent build quality and highly regarded brand name in Australia. Regal was excellent. She was solid through the waves (I was in 2m+ swell) and I would even use the word 'outstanding' when you consider what that boat offers and how she looks after you. Merry Fisher is the dark horse and depending on budget may be the better choice. She doesn't have the build quality of the American boats but as an all rounder she does everything very, very well at a reasonable price. She's wet going into the waves but down swell she handles very confidently and at speed in normal wind chop she was really excellent. So if you have some exposed water and offshore runs you need to make it between the Regal and the Jeanneau in my opinion. Hope that helps.

It's all relative i guess. For the average boater these are big waves for sure. Sure i've surfed down 5m and even 8m waves in the ocean before but that would not be the kind of conditions i take a production power boat out in so kinda irrelevant. That's why I show conditions like this which are absolutely bigger than what 90% of boaters would already experience and hopefully explains to them what the boat is capable of.

Big waves? Lol, great beginning boat, that’ll last 5 years while the corner cutting to reach the “bargain “ price point becomes evident Great way to discourage a prospective boat owner from stepping up to a proper boat that’s built to last!
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Жыл бұрын
What is a 'proper boat'? Yes the big mass market brands have a lifespan for sure but so does every boat. I think what we see happenning here is different boats being built for different market needs. I see a huge demand for all types of people buying into Jeanneau Merry Fishers and enjoying them for 1 - 3yrs before they upgrade into the next boat. Sure they could go find something that was built for the Southern Ocean but that would be 4 times more expensive and they would be too scared to park it at the marina half the time. Also the resale on the niche and expensive boats can be difficult as the used market is a lot smaller for them. I think if I was planning to keep a boat for 10 - 15yrs then yes I would go spend the bigger dollars and get the Rolls Royce quality but if it's a stepping stone onto the next boat then these make a huge amount of sense to me.

I would actually like to see better boat recycling in place so this is something we need to be better organised with in Australia. Re rescuing old boats yes thats great, have done that myself 3 times. But that requires a LOT of time, effort and education to achieve. I think if you are new to the boat lifestyle then something like this Jeanneau will suit a lot of people, particularly if they have a family as the layout works so well.
