I also built one. I had limited DIY skills, but it is a beautifully elegant and simple design, and the instructions are very good. My sailing experience was just three summers in a minifish. At first the Beth was tough to sail, but like riding a bicycle, it eventually became second nature (well OK, I still have to concentrate in strong winds.) It's very good looking, and attracts praise every single time I sail it. The $100 I paid for the plans was fantastic value. Many thanks to the designer Michael Storer.

@@MikStorer Manhasset Bay, off Long Island Sound, about 15 miles from New York City. Still haven't ventured out into the Sound, but I think I will eventually.

I built one of these a few years ago, uploaded a couple of videos of it sailing, unfortunately in virtually no wind. They are a great little boat.

Me gusta pero prefiero,madera y en vez de terciado madera poner lona,por ser más liviana y fácil de reemplazar. Usar buen resina para impermeabilizar. Tamaño aprox. 2.50 a 3 mts ,quilla orza central,fondo en V o en doble V. Buen trabajo,pero el mar en chile es diferente. Gracias.

Individual decisions are different for every person. The boat has been sailed on the East and South Coast of Australia, Nova Scotia, New England, Florida, Virginia Rivers Lakes and oceans. Waterways full of traffic, in races and just for cruising. To feel that a different style suits you individually is undoubtedly true. And of course a person who builds their own boat can choose their own way of building a boat. But the water ... is water. And the boat has been sailed in so many places and in so many different weather conditions. I think you are talking about what you like. The water doesn't care.

Is this a kayak or a canoe? If you put a deck on a canoe does it become a kayak? If you put a sail on a kayak does it become a canoe?
