I love these factory tours. Great way to see the unique construction of each build without having to drive to the factory! Maybe regulator, yellowfin or contender next?! Maybe Boston whaler or Grady White?!

What coating do they use on the aluminum tank? I am replacing a 37 year old tank in one of my Whalers and want to do something similar.
@SoFloCamejo3 жыл бұрын
That’s Coal Tar Epoxy, some great stuff. Although pricy
@Beachnative423 жыл бұрын
You can used a few coats of truck bed liner coating then placing rubber work mats under the fuel tanks before foaming them in...and yes foam them in.
@SoFloCamejo3 жыл бұрын
@@Beachnative42 instead of the rubber mats, I’d advise small starboard blocks to raise the fuel tank maybe a half inch or so. Just to let the water flow under it
@Beachnative423 жыл бұрын
@@SoFloCamejo the rubber mats allow for a small amount of flex but putting starboard first, yet another improvement, Bravo!!!
@SoFloCamejo3 жыл бұрын
@@Beachnative42 hey how about rubber blocks then? That’ll work twice as good!

Was that wood I saw in the boat stringers?
@boatsdotcom3 жыл бұрын
The wood in the intro was from another episode - the stringer systems on these boats are constructed from sheets, panels and strips of composite foam glued together. No wood is used. Once the shape of the hull has been achieved, multiple layers of fiberglass and epoxy are applied.

I have a feeling this dude is from the Philadelphia area. I think I heard him say wooder instead of water. I could be wrong, if I am my apologies.

No epoxy in those hulls at all. The red color is from the MEKP hardner with a red dye in it.

9:23 the deck fiting was piss poor at the transom. See the parts of the deck cut out and clamps and boards holding it down? Yep it's bad. See the hull ridge difference @ the port rear corner? yeah that ain't good. Im actually surprised they let be shown. It's a real PITA to fix correctly
@SoFloCamejo2 жыл бұрын
It’s clamped to bond it all together and laminate it together, if you don’t do that the cap will flex with the shock and load of the engines and crack. That’s the proper way to do it, unless you want to grind the whole cap and transom then laminate them together

Observation: I tend to think few people on here are ever gonna purchase any boat, the just dig these videos. Put me in that category. Frankly if you were buying one you alreadt know boats and already are biased. Therefore most comments are douchebags.
