Well I've seen other vids on blacking before but this is the most realistic and has the little things to watch out for. Thanks guys 🙂

Thank you you two. Jeanette and I found this very helpful and we now feel that we can have a go at blacking our Foxy ourselves. Some really good tips like extra paint on cracks and in the weed hatch!!!! Thank you again Jeanette and Simon

Excellent blacking video, well done. The only extra tip I can offer is only give one coat of blacking on the wall next to the skin tank, our 2nd boat used to over heat in hot weather and when we were blacking one year, someone pointed out there were about 30 layers of bitumen next to the skin tank, he ground it back to bear metal and we used to apply a thin coat each year and it did the trick. We always put a bit of pipe in our outlets to keep the water off the sides whilst drying like you mentioned, but we are out for a week at a time, every year as it’s free as part of our mooring 👍

Hi Amy and Wes. A very informative video. So impressed you managed to make this at the same time as your weekly ones. This will be really useful to explain how to do it for those that have never blacked a boat before. Take care. Nick

After wire brushing, do you not use a rust converter to kill the rust before blacking?
@BoatTime2 жыл бұрын
You can do if you have a lot of time, but it’s not completely necessary due to the type of paint! 😊 (we were told anyway)
@raymondrichards48882 жыл бұрын
How do you black where the boat is supported? (IE straps)
@BoatTime2 жыл бұрын
They lower them down so they aren't strapped onto the boat and then they offset the position of the wooden supports so you can get everywhere 😊

bitumen is totally useless, its britle when cold had a different coefficient to the steel plate , a 2k poly is far more affective , sprayed is even beter with a uniform thickness
