Not sure if you ever saw the film "Auto Focus", but it was incredibly well-done, IMO. Deeply disturbing, mind you, but then again, so was his Life and death. Definitely not family-friendly viewing, but worth a watch if you want a more detailed look at his troubled rise to fame, and his terribly tragic fall. God bless you, and thanks for the content. S xo

I wonder if any tapes exist of his radio work. One of Art Linkletter's books told a story about him. Bob Crane tried to use his fame as a radio dj to get out of a traffic ticket. Spoiler alert: it didn't work. Leaving a high paying job is always a risk. He could have taken a leave of absence just in case. I remember his short-lived NBC series where he played a medical student. Years later I saw Hogan's Heroes in reruns. He played a sportscaster in the Disney movie Gus. One of his last TV appearances was as a steward on The Love Boat. He got drunk after learning one passenger was his daughter. He saw a photo of her mother in her cabin. Sadly, Bob Crane is also remembered for his kinky personal life and tragic murder. His album is available on the Freegal database. Check your local library.

Not shocking somebody's angry or jealous husband would eventually resort to murder, given what Crane got involved in. Certain private activities are very risky and don't end well when you cross the wrong person. I went to Catholic grade school with a kid whose murder 45 years ago is still unsolved, leaving his mother and sister permanently grief stricken. It was strongly suspected his killing was drug related and I was startled to discover that he was into trafficking at all. A good looking, smart kid whose luck ran out at age 18. We all know the saying about what happens when we play with fire.....
