Listening to Bob working out the arrangements as he strums his guitar, trying to get the chords/keys right.....amazing!

I always thought Dylan wrote the lyrics in advance before assembling the musicians in the studio to record the tracks. I'm sure this was often the case. But apparently he sometimes sussed out the lyrics during recording sessions. This is a fascinating insight into the process of a genius. As a musician I imagine it was far less terrifying for his band to work out the arrangements gradually as opposed to Bob expecting them to nail it first take. Which I've heard was the case while recording his albums featuring The Band or... Michael Bloomberg on guitar, was it? Or am I thinking of Paul Butterfield? (Or both?)

Michael Bloomfield. 1965 Highway 61 Revisited. Paul Butterfield blues band played with Him in new port folk festival 1965 where he got booed BC he went "electric" first time and folk purists got angry. Bloomfield and the Butterfield Band-minus Paul Butterfield-along with keyboardists Al Kooper and Barry Goldberg. Your welcome

You mean the random instrumental jam as they fumble around for an intro to Sweetheart Like You?
