Bob should apologise the innocent Ethiopian he betrayed them in their difficult time. He prepared live donations event to help them, however the money goes for other purposes. And no money goes that innocent and disparate people, by the time as we was on civil war, the TPLF ( they was fighting against the ruling gvt by the time) took the money and showed him a full suck of sand in the lorry to betrayed his efforts to save life. And then they use the money to buy weapons to fight the ruling gvt. Since then they win the war and comes power, later he was a good friend of them. He has owned a lot of thing in Ethiopia as a return ( including the historical wine made factory) without any computation. We need a formal assessment and how he made a mistake but no one ask him to come this way because we been in may difficult situation and the ruling gvt was his allies. We never forget this and we will write it as a history

Great classic song that still gives me shivers....I remember him doing it at the original Live Aid and it was amazing. And no matter what the haters here wanna say, it sounds like everyone at this concert was very into it and loving the song, and probably not too concerned about the negativity from the folks behind their keyboards watching KZbin. No matter where this song gets played it has that same reaction and it wouldn't be a Live Aid-inspired benefit without it!

Sir Bob Geldof is a brilliant humanitarian and The Boomtown Rats made a serious contribution to the New Wave Scene in the late 70's... The tune "I Don't Like Mondays" was ahead of it's time when it addressed a school shooting before most people were familiar with the threat... Bob's personality and passion was the driving force behind the original Live Aid and he has my respect and admiration...

@magedselim18062 жыл бұрын
This song is about Brenda Spencer, a 16-year-old high school student who lived across the street from Cleveland Elementary School in San Diego, California. On Monday, January 29, 1979, she opened fire on the school with a rifle her father had given her for Christmas, killing two adults and injuring nine children before going back to her home. Police surrounded her home and waited for seven hours until she gave herself up. In that time, she spoke with a reporter on the phone. When asked why she did it, she replied, "I just started shooting, that's it. I just did it for the fun of it. I just don't like Mondays. I just did it because it's a way to cheer the day up. Nobody likes Mondays. While in Atlanta touring, Bob Geldof heard the news story about Brenda Spencer. Geldof composed the song on the spot, Bob got a message from Brenda telling him she didn't regret what she did. as otherwise he wouldn't have written the song which made both of them more famous; but Geldof would have none of it. He says that it's not a song about her or what she did, but about amorality in general, Brenda was sentenced to 25 years life in prison . Brenda also thanked both the press and the Boomtown Rats -- for making her famous !!! one more thing is that song was #1 hit in different countries, but it flopped in USA maybe because the subject matter hit too close to home. gun violence is a big problem in America or because Brenda Spencer's father threatened to sue if it was released as a song. Bob was not happy with that decision and he regrets that it was not a single in the US.
