The problem at this time was the entire Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth line up was simple too small. By now almost every single car was based on the "K"-car. At the time, Chrysler had room in the line up for something bigger and still meet CAFE standards. Instead, Mr. Iaccoca, Mr. Lutz and team told traditional Imperial/Chrysler/DeSoto/Dodge/Plymouth buyers of previous decades this; "Screw you buddy, you don't like small front wheel drive cars, go buy something else and we did! Additional note, the 1990 FWD Imperial based on the "K" car didn't cut it either.

Yes, and if they hadn’t done that Chrysler wouldn’t still be around.

The viper ushered in a whole new era of Chrysler cars, in a turn away from the mpg-focused, downsized early 80's era "K" car lineup. Their 90s design theme from this car forward was a swoopy, curvy breath of fresh air compared to the formal rooflines, hard angles and short wheelbase of the "k" car era

Lutz looks younger and healthier at 90 (2022) than he did back then! Being an auto exec was probably stressing him out big time

Given his personality I don’t think it did. He truly enjoyed his work.

Quality low gloss plastic finish and feel better quality knobs.... Chrysler hasn't achieved that in 2019 let alone 1990 when Lutz was pimping that crap.

Chrysler Corp. Cars had higher quality and reliability ratings in 1990 than they do in 2022...the vehicles look a lot better now and are definitely safer and more powerful but the more computerized components you stuff in a car, the more room for error and failure.
