anyone ever seen the video when Marley says, "not boasting but my music will live forever" It shows somehting truely spiritual was going on wiht Marley. his music was so pure and from the heart and connects with people so well he knew that his music was one of a kind. Heaven sent i say.

"BAD CARD" (...at 18:00 in) I remember this jam session form the "Time Will Tell" documentary (1993). I always felt that it showed a demonstration of Mr. Marley's shamanic type of symbiosis with sound. As the band seems to supernaturally adhere to his phrenetic lead disclosed by the severity of the subject matter. "Bad Card" is an autobiographic account of the Babylonian's attempt to unseat the reigning king of reggae, The Prophet Bob Marley. In retaliation, Marley composes what is a perfect example of the timing and "feel" that he is capable of, even in his last days. The song is also a perfect example of the downbeat progression sound system. With the instrumentalists just sittin' back on the rhythm, like on a sound wave. Which is, seemingly, a physical distortion of the song's gravitational pull. Not unlike the propulsion systems described by Bob Lazar. Thus permitting the craft to be driven by the counter-position of the lead organ with the force of the pulsatile drum. As much, it is also a mystical expression of the "bridge" concept. By the crescendo style lead up and then release of chords from the tight structure of Marley's rhythm guitar. Then the whole oratorio takes full dimensional flight with the high octane aria and HIM utterance of This refrain: "Guarding the palace so_ majestic." Indeed Mr. Marley, 'dem a "Just a big disgrace..." Yardmon50

@@leonc.3841 It's been said that Jamaican music went downhill after Bob Marley passed away, and I think there's some truth in that. The ragga/dancehall music that came later was/is very preoccupied with gangsterism and materialism (with a few notable exceptions such as Sizzla). There's an excellent book about Jamaican music. It's called "Bass Culture" and it's by a guy called Lloyd Bradley and was published in 2001. Bradley doesn't think much of ragga/dancehall and sees it as a departure from what Jamaican music was all about. He points out that in all the previous transitions in Jamaican music - from ska to rocksteady to early reggae to roots reggae - there was continuity. There was also melody and musicianship. As for Marley being a prophet, there was certainly something special about him. Apparently when he was dying his wife Rita started crying and begged him not to leave her. He replied "Leave you? Go where?" This reminds me of what I read about an Indian (Hindu) holy man who was dying and his followers also begged him not to leave them. The holy man said "Where would I go?" Maybe Marley and the Hindu holy man both instinctively knew that when we "die" it's only our vibrational state of being that changes and we don't actually "go" anywhere. Finally, I would like to give a little anecdote about the specialness of Marley. A few years ago a woman told me that her brother had a mental breakdown and was in a psychiatric hospital. While at the hospital he was contemplating taking his own life. One day she visited him there and gave him a Bob Marley tape. After listening to the tape he no longer wanted to commit suicide.

@@leonc.3841 ... very much similar is "We and Dem" ; the whole song is built the same way as "Bad card"... both of them being good songs. And live version is always the best version.

To each their opinion whether to like or dislike, but this in my estimation is crucial and lesser known footage and roots reggae. "Big ups!" for downloading this, and sharing it with the community online. I'm clicking 'like this' after I listen to it a third and fourth time today. It still uplifts my spirit, and that is what it is all about. This world needs more important music like this if we are to continue to work through our travails as a people.

Bob had great influence over the freedom fighters in Zimbabwe during their struggle to free themselves from the British crown. In one documentary, Prince Charles salutes the Union Jack as it's hauled down the mast. Then, up goes Zimbabwe flag. Next, the first words spoken in the FREE nation of Zimbabwe, thanks to Bob Marley: "Ladies & Gentlemen, Bob Marley & the Wailers!" The man with the power to bring down flags could not be expected to last very long here on earth. Forever in our hearts.
