Musically, it's called the "dirty" sound to Jamaican musicians. A raw grittiness that's endearing to the ear. You can also hear it a lot in Ska, being from the Caribbean, I can't help but like it.

Many will romanticise this performance with very little regard or real understanding of the soil that this was grown out of Know that what you are hearing is the personification of the pain suffering hunger despair (I could go on) of life inside the ghettos of Kingston Jamaica! You may think you know? but unless you have inhaled and exhaled it yourself ? I can assure you that you don’t ! Poverty is the biggest crime!

Oh my goodness, it’s baby Bob Marley! Bless whomever uploaded this! Only by the miracle of them & KZbin do we see this early performance of Bob & The Wailers….sadly, every man on this stage has crossed over to the other side. Bob met them at the Gates of Heaven and they are all jamming together again! 50 years later…and still we listen, dance, and sing along…not bad for a biracial kid from Trench Town. As an old white woman, this bootie has shook to Bob Marley since the beginning and it shakes everytime his music plays. Rest in peace & power dear Bob, I know there will be a big crowd…but I’m going to find you in Heaven to thank you for this music and shake your hand. Jamming for life…

I have seen a dozen of videos on KZbin, never ending poor covers from other bands, his sons making shitty versions of his music. Nobody sounds like Bob and The Wailers live. Despite the primitive technology in sound of those days, it is amazing and pure. I believe that this band live was the faithful representation of musical perfection, magic, coordination, soul and feeling. Nobody never, never, will match the talent and feeling of this man and his band.
