I'm not young- and this shit blows. Boring, repetitive bullshit. If this is an example of great songwriting, I guess that I too am a "great" songwriter- as is anyone else who can string three words together and repeat them for a few minutes over loud guitar, bass, and drums. My opinion only, of course- which is just as valid as your opinion.

Blackkeysblow I used to think this song was stupid, too. Simple, yes. But not stupid. It is fierce and joyful. It fires a 16" shell across the bow of the universe.

Blackkeysblow I've never understood why this shit was popular....like dressing badly and eating too much. The kids that listened to this when we were young didn't seem to look after themselves all that well. Broken home music possibly.

+David Fairbairn Couldn't agree more. Grant was a supercollider disguised as a poet. He had a way of accentuating, however lightly, or slyly, the MOST Important latent aspects of an imposing noise's groove. The end result was like a kettle of popcorn at it's absolute most chaotic, if you'll forgive my tangential commentary... PS I do think Grohl ROCKED the FUCK out of this take. Also, amusing is how the bass player is TUNING his axe for the first stanza!

In the doco, Grohl asks if he's playing NDR too fast. Bob says, No, no, it's good. Line this up with the Husker Du version in London, DG is slower and less ferocious than the magic that is Grant Hart.
