The story of Liverpool's most successful manager. Following in the footsteps of Bill Shankly. Bob Paisley took Liverpool FC to domestic and European glory. Signing players such as King Kenny, Graham Souness, Alan Hansen, Bob Paisley arguably created the greatest Liverpool team ever to grace Anfield. Managing club legends such as Ray Clemence, Ray Kennedy, Roonie Whelan and Ian Rush to name a few.

Despite Bob's trophy hall I always thought Shankly's team was better having watched both it was a harder League to win in Shank's day because they came up against far better teams with great players Arsenal, Everton, Man U, Man City, Wolves, Chelsea, Derby Spurs & especially Leeds.

@niazpetkar53 I think you'll find he did win more trophies in the less than 9 years he was with Liverpool. Look at the 74 charity shield and see the significance to LFC. Ferguson would play tiddler winks to win a trophy. Bob only chased the big ones

I'm 67 now and I've been a huge fan of Liverpool Football Club for about 62 years now. As much as I loved Bill Shankly, especially for helping us get back to where we belonged, it was Bob Paisley who I worshipped most. A brilliant football mind as shown in this amazing documentary. Bob and Emlyn Hughes are my 2 favourite men associated with this great club to this day. LFC forever.

Evertonian here, I have to start with stating I despise Liverpool FC. Having said that why wasn't Bob Paisley knighted? Ferguson was knighted before he landed back in Manchester after winning the CL. From memory Paisley won 3, and every other competition ( so it seemed as a young Evertonian ) year after year. He also served Liverpool quietly in the shadow of others, year after year, yet without him Liverpool would have remained the Mickey Mouse club my uncles told me they always were. Its shocking this great, humble DECENT man wasnt rewarded for his success and just as important his service.

@waz3128 maybe armchair trophy hunting fans that change allegiance depending on where their latest club stands in the league table can't remember him Waz. When Ferguson was Knighted Paisley was still very much in the publics memory. He was very much in the public eye after his first European Cup, unlike Ferguson he was ignored, again after his second then his third. Knighthood should be given due to success not how much noise they make in the media.

I remember reading Kevin Keegan's first book was back in 1977-1978. He mentions how Paisley had his first team talk as manager after Shankley retired and stated that he never wanted the job but felt that out of loyalty to the club he had to agree. Keegan mentions how the players played their hearts out after that to make Paisley succesful.

I was lucky enough to be given a colour copy of a handwritten letter he had sent to someone as a reply. From what I can gather, the letter seems to be a reply about the circumstances of him leaving Bishop Auckland and joining LFC. It was given to me by a passenger on a bus, who had chatted with me weeks ago when I was sat parked up on a shopping service and we had been talking about the sport. I might be a NUFC fan but as a child, I was following Liverpool from around 77, then began following Newcastle in 1980. I only lost interest when Dalglish left & really Liverpool went to the doldrums (where Manchester United are now and were 44yrs ago). Paisley was such a modest guy and this I think was key to getting the best out of his staff. Who wouldn't want to push that bit more for someone who was happy with one trophy, nevermind 20.... I love one of his immortal quotes he gave us. You can hear that little Durham County twang in it.... "Mind, I've had the bad times too, ye knorr? One year we only got second...."

Bob rebuilt the team and dominated with it Home and abroad... Shanks Team never dominated like Bobs teams .... Bob took Liverpool to a whole new level where Shanks couldn't ...... Shanks got Liverpool back to winning ways and back into the top flight division...... but that was as far as he could go . just to help. Bill Shankly in 15 years at Liverpool he won 3x first division titles.(top flight) 1x second division title 2x F.A Cups 3x Charity Shield 1X UEFA Cup total 10 trophies in 15 years Bob Paisley in 9 years ate Liverpool he won 6x Division 1 titles.(top flight) 3x League Cups 6x Charity shields 3x European Cups (Champions League) 1x EUFA Cup 1x EUFA Super Cup total 20 trophies in only 9 years ........ FYI....Fergie never came close to winning 20 trophies in any 9 year Period of his United Career . I doubt he had the desire to mange any team other than Liverpool. For me that's part of what made him special.

@@petel2551He didn't want the hassle of the England job. He put his name in for the Rep of Ireland job in 1986. Jack Charlton got it but if the public knew his name was in the hat, Jack wouldn't have got the job.

Just read the biography. Seems a rather strange man with his inability or unwillingness to communicate anywhere clearly enough. A lot of credit must go to the Bootroom who picked up his pieces. Can't deny LFC's phenomenal success under him but it seems as if it was despite him and his odd behaviour.

Hiya Rose, your one of my favourite ladies for us on the Everton KZbin fan channels but for the 1st time whilst watching you doing a live match game stream, for 90% of the game you should really be commenting on the game for the people who are unable to watch the game live on TV as I said before for 90% of the match you hardly said a word when really you should be describing what's going on throughout the game..!! And it wasn't until the last 10mins you actually described what was going on in the game..?? And I hate saying that to you Rose but maybe it will help you next time you do this (ie) describe/commentate and give a running dialogue of what was going on..!! And Rose this honestly a personal dig at you cos I think you're brilliant on your fan channel for our beloved club and absolutely agree with 99% of everything you do, so keep up the fantastic job you did with the Everton KZbin Fan Channel cos your awesome at it😘💙 COYB AND UTFT
