Roenick, NHL 93, is the strongest video game character ever.

Yeah. Those were the good old days when fans found it entertaining watching players kill each other one punch at a time. RIP Bob Probert.

It’s better today. The nhl is trying to protect players from concussions that lead to drug and alcohol addiction, suicide and jail. I’m all for safety. The nhl before 2005 was a violent sport with no concerns for the players health. When’s the last time you had 30 fights in a year and took pain killers every day? Would you want a member of your family to go through that?

@@ghytgb NO WAY dude. Sure it may be safer today but it was WAY more entertaining back then! The game is nowhere NEAR as exciting as 1980 to 1995!

Probert "older brothered" Roenick. Those missed punches were just warning shots.

Probert was very classy with Roenick and Chelios when they thought they could fight him. Imagine if he'd done to them what Kocur did to Dalgarno.
@allenmynatt95712 жыл бұрын
Probert was never very accurate with his shots though was he?
@vanhattfield82922 жыл бұрын
@@allenmynatt9571 He was in what I always thought of as "the second roound". In many of his fights he would take allot of shots in the beginning as he tried to get position. He would throw a few shots but was concentratimng on getting into position. He also took alot of shots during that time but when he got set and started unloading it was all Probert. They let them fight earlier in his career but as time passed, the linesment started jumping in sooner.

@@ghytgb For every Ex-NHL enforcer complaining about concussions there are 50 that say it all overblown just like everything else today the left gets their hand on! You go into sport knowing the dangers, so don't complain when they come around!! Be a man for god sakes! Back when coaches didn't have a problem with their players jumping in to protect their stars, even if it resulted in getting kicked out of the game. Today? Roenick would have gotten his ass kicked and the coach would have been all "hey, we got 5 minutes in powerplay time!" This is the true problem with the game today. Coaches emphasizing getting every short-term edge possible to the detriment of team building.

lol at JR at about 2:55 just that look on his face like he can't believe Probert is starting shit with him and then says "fuck you!" and drops his gloves. He's lucky it got broken up before he caught a beating but you have to give him props he didn't back down from the baddest dude around at the time. JR talked a lot of shit but I love the way he played the game.

Probert just pawed at him. If he'd wanted to hurt him he would glided forward a foot or two and threw bombs. Make no mistake there's no world where Probert doesn't mangle Roenick anytime he wants if he weren't busy creating and following the code. I hated Probert when he played but being,able to go back and watch without bias I see that he easily holds the re ord for the most punches held back when he landed and hurt his opponent, when his opponent wasn't in his league, or turtled(which they almost always did if he got his right free) or turned away or were on the ground or any other vulnerable position. Had he been the one in all those vulnerable positions in that era he'd not have played long. I can't imagine how good he would've been if he wasn't such a calm, mild mannered person.he really struggledtoget up for alot of fights. You can learn see when he was motivated by team responsibility. If it were just someone wanted an ego fight or they wanted to make a name for themselves he wasn't very motivated. If you go back and watch a bunch of his fights it becomes pretty obvious when he really wanted to win and when he just wasn't in it. He won most of the fights he wasn't motivated for but he was pretty well unbeatable when it was for his team. Remember the coward Kevin Maguirre? He tries to beat up Stevie Y and literally lands zero punches but then cowers when its time to pay for it. I would rather have my head blown off than do that. How could you ever show your face as a supposed enforcer after that? He was really motivated but couldn't do much. That was the angriest by far I'd ever seen him. He punches Barrasso when he tried to stop him so Barrasso just backs up and Housley comes over and sees what happened to Barrasso and decides he'll find something to do as far away from Probert as possible. Nobody from the Sabres would even lay a finger on him as he waited for Maguirte. This may be extreme but if he'd kicked Maguirre in the face with his skate it would've been an appropriate punishment. Not just for trying to beat Stevie but for not answering the bell after. Everybody knows if tough guy tires to take out a top skill guy he's gotta answer at the first chance. If you don't ya end up with McSorlyey on the pathetic coward Brashear. Or Steve Moore. All guys not answering the bell.

Yzerman came after Maguire, and Maguire put him down. Simple as that. Roenick went after Probert and would've gotten the same treatment had the linesmen not intervened.

@ghytgb6 жыл бұрын
Not always true. Look at the Hawks. They had Stu Grimson and many many other great tough guys and never won it and then look at the Hawks team roster for their last three cups. Pens don't have a tough guy and they won two straight! When Detroit won their last four cups they did not have a tough team. At least no where near the toughest in the league. Russians and Sweds!

People love watching people physically abuse each other and then ignore the dark side of it. Probert is dead as is so many more that filled that similar role. The concussions catch up with you and it becomes a very difficult, lonely world. Glad the NHL is looking out for the players after all of the sad stories of suicide, drug and alcohol addiction, jail time and mental issues.

While it was determined that Probert had CTE after his death. He died of a heart attack, caused by his unwillingness to get checked out and genetics. His wife said in an interview that he hadn’t been looking well for weeks and refused to go to the doctor, and his father died of a heart attack in his 50s.
