Bob Ross and his show The Joy of Painting has become one of the most famous PBS shows in history. Did you know he only had 27 minutes to film an episode? Or, that he would drink iced tea right before he filmed? I go behind the scenes to discover how the show was made, and where all the Bob Ross paintings are kept!
Be sure to check out my next episode where I learn how to paint like Bob with a certified Bob Ross instructor! I'm joined by the Indy Eleven professional soccer team for this one!

Such a great icon for the 80s generation. Still remember watching him on PBS and as a kid and still to this day, really relaxing and soothing.

Yes, he definitely was! I also remember watching him as a kid, which is why I was beyond excited to make this episode. Sort of a surreal experience, to be honest! Thanks for watching and for the feedback!

That's awesome! He really did inspire so many people to give painting a try no matter what skill level. Something Bob and I most definitely agree on is that everyone can be creative in some capacity. Thanks for watching and the feedback!

I had not seen this video before. Glad I came across it. It's a great video. I grew up watching Bob on PBS also. What an impact he has made in the art world.

I believe Bob Ross Incorporated has made enough money off of the poor man while he was alive. Now give the family a little back let them have his paintings.

He gave all his paintings to a woman who was a student of his. Her name is Annette Kowalski. She has actually loaned the paintings to the Smithsonian. She is also the one WHO encouraged him into striking out and doing something more.

His hypnotic bedroom voice and calm scenes made him popular, along with giving others a sense of achievement in completing a painting. It's psychological as much as artistic. And yes, it is art, despite any criticism from a few.

It would've been amazing if the cameras back then were a good as today. Those paintings look really great on HD.

COMPLETELY agree! It's a shame no one really got to see them in their true, dynamic colors. They really are something special. Thanks for watching and the feedback!

That's great tot hear! Since you are clearly a huge fan of his show, you really should make a trip out and visit this place. So amazing! I also went to his former home about ten minutes from here. It's a private residence, but the owners showed me around. It's tucked away in the woods, which is not a surprise! Thanks for the feedback and support!

Bob Ross was the master at commercializing his name and image kiss just learned how to do it from Bob Ross.

He definitely was, much like Warhol. However, I do think Bob genuinely believed that everyone had the ability to paint and create. Of course, he was getting paid nothing from PBS so he needed to fund the program through sponsors and products.

A news outlet did a special about trying to buy Bob Ross paintings. Spoiler alert: you can’t. Bob Ross Inc. owns almost all of them. They may have 27 here but his best friend owns the rest. Bob Ross Inc. will never sell them.
@artrageousnate
@artrageousnate Жыл бұрын
Indeed you are correct. I have a lot of mixed feelings about Bob Ross Inc. Did you catch the Netflix special about it? I really feel Bob's son got the shaft in the whole deal. I love Bob and his work, but the company lost focus of the educational mission. Capitalism is a powerful force. Thanks for watching and the feedback!

@@artrageousnate I didn’t see it yet but that’s why everyone hates the company because of what they did to his son. I’d love to talk to his son about it.

That style is hella easy because there not that realistic paintings that's why he does them so fast. There not realistic like all these other painters that do western art like Haward Terpning.
