He is truly what humanity is all about in the truest sense of the word that examplified Thy Holy Scriptures in terms of a full prefected scale of compassion, humility, humor etc that is well missed on the Planet Earth Indeed for this wonderful show was a tapestry of psychological therupy from the animalistic vissitudes of anything opposite just from the fact that when tuning in to the "Joy of Painting" can blissfully temporarily escape most crap by presentation of creativity of art in order to boost one's Self-esteem, Self-respect and Self-worth plus teach how to tap into our creative side as a catalyst so sure need more archetypes like him out here definitely find solace with this "The Joy of Painting" show on public television so to his extension much admiration respect due for a exceptional inspiration of upliftment for our human sake!!!😢😢😢😢

I was taking to a painter I knew back in the 80s that did one painting a month. He too used the odorless thinner and said the smell wasn't there, but the deadly fumes were still there. Although safe to do a painting once in a while, but Bob did them EVERYDAY in the 80's for the TV shows back then. Breathing the fumes constantly just to teach others. There is no doubt that is exactly what ended his life early. He gave it all for the people back in those days and not for himself. Breathing equipment would have saved him, but then he couldn't tell all the amazing stories while he was painting. That part helped a lot of people back in those days. Everyone lost a real treasure when Bob left this earth.

There's no such thing as a whole bunch of masterpieces. A masterpiece is one exceptional and brilliant piece of work (the best of a bunch of works) by someone, be it a painting or piece of music or a novel, etc. If Bob Ross hadn't been a famous TV personality and his paintings were judged on their own merit they would most likely be in motel bedrooms because that is the "look" of them, that's the kind of art they were-- simple and easy landscapes. But his charming personality and soothing voice made him a household name in the 1990's thanks to PBS, and now he's a star on KZbin, posthumously. I don't know if his initial aim on TV when he started out back in the 1980's was to teach every viewer to paint just like he did ... I hope not, because that would be silly, and everyone painting the same things in the same manner would mean that nobody would have a unique painting style of their very own. He has said in some episodes that we shouldn't copy, we should do our own thing ... very wise words.

I think there was a happy accident in the colours going across the screen... the colour after titanium white is PRUSSIAN (not phthalo) blue on his palette, then black, then both browns and etc etc. Yet at the start when the colours are going across the screen, it says titanium white, THALO BLUE, PRUSSIAN BLUE. But, there is no phthalo blue (or thalo blue) on his palette. It was a happy little accident :).
