Funnily enough, Bob Vogel isn't the ONLY guy who was/is saying this. There are a lot of professional shooters out there saying the dot is the least important part of the equation. Anyone who knew how to shoot irons well was target focused and basically used the front fiber optic as a "red dot" by super imposing it on the target. The people who I hear make statements like "you NEED a red dot or you will die in da streetz" tend to be static indoor range slow fire guys who shoot for groups.

. At 73 my vision is crap and I need a red dot to stay on target at any kind of speed. Thank goodness for red dot optics.

Very interesting thanks. My 54 yo eyes can still cope with iron sights...for now.

I'm 46 and things up close are getting harder and harder to read..but for me, I don't think a dot on a handgun is an advantage. They are cool and fun to shoot though...

Point nobody mentions For CCW purposes, Probably doesn’t matter.... MOST people will be point shooting anyway. Advantages for dot, over 25 yards, flashlight aided or using NVG’s Disadvantages cost I remember people bashing dots on carbines decades ago. Why not buy the technology if you can.
