To me the best part of the Batman tease wasn't actually seeing him, but rather the reaction of everybody at the club. He is TRULY feared in this universe! People straight up lost their mind and evacuated with no hesitation.

With Dr Phosperus being a big gangster in Gotham, Battinson fans will still argue how it could work (if not just straight up delcare Creature Commandos is canon to DCEU, not DCU and would demand Gunn to make that), but this episode now gave me an idea of how Batman universe might look like in DCU, and it's something more akin to the Brave and the Bold cartoon, when you have gangsters and mafia, but it's mostly with very fantastical characters. Which I think it's direction to make it stand out. Again, we have to first see in practice, cause I do get people finding two Batmans confusing and the idea that "we already got Pattinson, why we need second Batman".

@@KRSBOOM Plus, I roll my eyes when people say "incorporating Battinson into DCU would not interfere with Matt Reeves" vision mostly for two reasons. One, Matt himself said he didn't want to be a part of DCU and James respected that. Two, the "Matt Reeves vision" they are talking about, what they actually meant is "I want Battinson movie to be more fantastical and comic booky" even though Matt himself said he wanted his Batman to be more grounded take. And it's something he said since the beginning, and ones he clarified later on, so many people lost their mind with "no, not another realistic Batman". Which, hey I get the dissapointment... but we were 2 years since The Batman, I think it's too late to be mad about it now. Like, the only argument against DCU Batman was The Flash director was working on it, but I always thought to be overly reactionary arguement. Whether or not people like the Flash (I personally don't), there were so many factors working against it, and it was also likely mandated by WB, that I just don't agree blaming Muschietti as a big factor of why the film is the way it was. Sure, he said about his ideas how speed force should work, but personally this sounds more like trying to say nice things about a movie Warner tries realy hard to sell.

I’m glad we saw Phosphorus go on to become a crime lord and general villain after getting his revenge, given the stuff he’s done so far in the show and his general attitude I would have found it a little disappointing if he simply had his family killed for revenge and then was arrested cause sure killing people is not good but they were bad people, man is probably the most despicable of the commandos from what we’ve seen so I’m glad we saw him go down a deeper hole basically becoming the new Thorne rather than just being a sympathetic victim who got revenge and was punished for it , his transformation from Alex to the sadistic guy we know in the present feels completely understandable thanks to the added depth of what he went on to do after getting his revenge, it’s a bit like a reverse Batman, if he stopped after getting his revenge maybe he could have turned his life back around but instead he kept going becoming the very thing that ruined his life to begin with and as such that’s when he truly went from a man to a monster

I'm looking forward to an episode showcasing Nina, which I don't think we have seen yet. All the other characters have had an illustrated backstory, and Nina hasn't done much yet, including having a really good fight scene with her abilities. I would like to see what she can do - and maybe the last episode of the season will show us - revealing all of the Commandos in a united front.

It has to be Alan ritchson now. Forget the look of the costume, we can talk about that later. Look at the size of Batman. It’s very batfleck in terms can of size. James is very detailed and if he isn’t set on something he won’t say or show something, like he just stated I’m not committed to a costume okay fine. But it does mean we are in for a bigger bulky Batman. Robert’s Batman isn’t crossing over this has to almost confirm it.

Alan Ritchson would be great, he just needs to slim down *a little*. Basically just stop drinking the "Reacher juice" and drop a few lbs of muscle, cause he's even said that he got TOO big for Reacher because of trainers pushing him to use those drinkable steroids, and he got so big that it was impeding his movement. I think if he's to play Batman, he should shrink back to the size he was when he played Hawk in Titans. He could even get away with being a bit smaller than that for Batman. We already know his face looks great in a cowl, he made that goofy Titans suit actually look kinda cool. He could definitely pull off Bruce really well, too.

I have been enjoying this show every week. I love every episode. The weasels episode was fantastic, with its flashbacks and future vision, but this episode was also wonderful, possibly my favorite. Seeing Gotham for the first time and Batman in action was amazing. Furthermore, the villain Doctor Phosphorus was a new and very cool character. That flashback was intense, particularly for what I believe to be the most ruthless Creature Commando, and I was quite concerned for the little girl, but I am relieved that Doctor Phosphorus still shows some humanity.

I'm so exhausted with this Pattinson being the DCU Batman mess I don't know what to do. He's not the right age (IN APPEARANCE, NOT HIS ACTUAL AGE), weight size, hell we haven't even seen him develop into "Bruce" - at this stage he only knows how to be Bats. As someone who read Batman: Year One right after Crisis on Infinite Earths, and had no problem seeing that same Batman interact with Metahumans or the Justice League between several issues of Batman and Detective Comics in the 80s and 90s where metahumans never came up. I really question whether the people adamantly against Battinson in the DCU have ever actually read the comics. It’s a sad lack of imagination. The criticism of the idea is exactly the reason it works. It would give a fascinating dynamic with Batman and Superman.

He may not have intentionally killed Rupert Thorne's children. After becoming what he was, the control over his powers could have been weak and they died as collateral damage. Or he could have intentionally done it. I think Gunn did this on purpose, making us wonder if he lost it all or rose mentally deficient and juiced by little more than anger only realizing what he had done later pushing him to his defeatist attitude. Or what occurred destroyed him and he wanted nothing more than murder once he got free and has some complex emotions he is dealing with as the little girl causes him to come to terms with what he did.

Hey BobaTalks Hope you had a Happy New Year! I do agree with you, that THE BATMAN and THE PENGUIN will stay separate from the DCU Chapter One Gods and Monsters. If they were to bring Robert Pattinson into the DCU then they would have to retcon a lot of the lore to make it fit, like how do you explain the existence of Damian Wayne? Batman is still only in Year 2 and the events of THE BATMAN and THE PENGUIN take place in the year 2022. I guess at the end of THE BATMAN, Bruce Wayne did ask Selina Kyle, "Where will you go?" and Catwoman did respond with, "I don't know. Upstate. Blüdhaven maybe." so that could lead to Nightwing already existing, maybe Dick Grayson was Robin during Year 1, also THE BATMAN did have set photos of two extras dressed up in a Superman and Wonder Woman Halloween costume, even THE BATMAN prequel novel did mention Metropolis and LexCorp. Matt Reeves did say that THE BATMAN PART II will take place during the winter time though, so how would you explain that? Let's just wait and see what James Gunn and Matt Reeves do.

I think this one of my fav episodes so far, great character development and world building for the dcu. Even tho i initially felt that every episode having a flash back origin story was a little lazy james gunn really kills it every time in giving compelling origins for his characters to bring them more to life and feel more fleshed out. also DCU BATMAN !?!? happy new year boba
