I was a nationally compatible gymnast and my best event was beam. So I’m blessed with good balance. They started us off on heel/toe walking on the beam when I was like 3. My mom said old people can’t jump … so she does exercises and set that bar. I don’t want to use a cane for as long as possible. Hopefully this video has preventative tips!

A little talked about tip is proper fitting shoes. If your shoes have an extra inch in the length "like house slippers", you can't know precisely where your heel and toes are. When people fall over their pets, I wonder how many times they're wearing big comfortable house slippers?

I was advised to use a cane, due to my slight limp, worse thing I ever did. I progressed to using a walker, as it was better to get in and out of the shower. My legs became weak, and I was told I have tight hips, even though I had always been active. I won't have a hip replacement, and have started walking more with my walker, and then progress to my two arm crutches. That saying, if you don't use it, you'll lose it, is not true😭 I was very flexible, and could do the splits, very double jointed, but I read that is not good. I always touched my toes, without bending my legs, seems all this is not good, along with doing ti bo, workouts.

I had knee surgery with severe arthritis in ankles and knees, along with 3auto immune diseases so I try to balance myself as much as possible but even in the house my ankle gives out ... On me ..I do use the techniques that my physical therapist taught me but then the stifness and swelling starts . I just carry my cane with me because after a few blocks of walking my hip starts to hurt really bad ..WHAT SHOULD I DO😢😢😢

I have 2 autoimmune diseases and have had both hips replaced. I use a cane. Before walking, I stretch in bed, then do standing hip stretches, as I walk, because my hips muscles cramp. I also sit down, after my daily walk, and do hip stretching exercises. I'm a 74 y/o male and my hips need extra attention EVERYDAY. 😃😄😁
