We saw him twice once in Buffalo and Las Vegas in 1962 and was the most polished performance we ever had seen. My husband was crazy for him right away. We have the book Dream lovers and the Collections The audiobook. Thanks Todd. I have such a great picture of your mother Sandra in the Town Casino in Buffalo

I'm very glad that my father (an African American) told me about Bobby Darin & his talents a long tine ago when I was a kid growing up. He used to tell me that "BOBBY DARIN", "NEIL SEDAKA", "PAUL ANKA" & "FRANKIE VALLI & THE FOUR SEASONS" were "VERY, VERY TALENTED"!! He also went on to say that "PAT BOONE", "FABIAN" & "FRANKIE AVALON" were just "CUTE WHITE BOYS WITH NO TALENT"!! He told me that there's a "BIG DIFFERENCE" between "CUTE" & "TALENTED"!! He wasn't lying!!

This is a great tribute and shows off Bobby Darin's talents so well - capped by his impressions routine as the finale. As a side note, the (then) monopoly of radio stations operated by the government-owned New Zealand Broadcasting Service banned Splish Splash from airplay because it suggested nude bathing parties. While you could buy the record, we didn't know of it as a hit.

I remember very well the moment I heard Splish Splash for the first time in a radio-special about his carrier , somewhere in 1961. Until then I knew him only from his Big Band songs like Mack the Knife and Beyond the Sea. I could'nt believe this was the same singer !!!

I only found out that he did a rap song about a year ago. My least favorite music but I had to listen to it. "Me and Mr. Horner"... I've listened to it a few times. This was way before the current popularity of rap.
