Bobby Fischer was the very last lone "World Beater". After Bobby every World Champion has had massive computer and staffing resources. Bobby did all the original thinking and development of openings like the Sicilian Naijdorf singlehandedly. Brilliance beyond belief!

Wow! Out of all of the chess commentators I've discovered on KZbin, please go to the top of the class! Excellent for Club level players like me and I see you also include each games notation for further indepth study. Like how you know Fischer hated draws and always played to win with the black pieces also.

Yes -- actually useful analysis. Most of us mere mortals who watch this kind of thing are A-B-C level players. Many big chess channels are either lazy (Agad) or rushed (Gotham) with game review.

Bobby realised that the better your memory and ability to memorise variations the better your chess. He realised it was not genius and ability but rather memory based and fell out with chess so much so that they thought he'd gone insane. He was right. Hence why the likes of magnus can play blind folded. They can memorise the board, piece placements and variations.

Only the opening is memorization
@mr.nobody2515
@mr.nobody2515 3 ай бұрын
What are you talking about? It’s impossible to memorize even a tiny bit of all possible variations which arise after around 3000+ openings, then the game goes into billions of possible middle games and endgames, professional players now have to calculate and build a strategic plan even from 15-20 moves. Memorization will not give you an edge against an opponents your strength in the long run, you can caught someone in your preparation but so is others. Elite players always find new ways of playing even on first 5-7 moves, there is still much creativity involved, huge calculations required and positional understanding. So don’t talk about memorization, only cause Fischer said that, he was mentally ill, and was insane in his words, in the interview first seconds he is so certain that chess is dead, then proceeds to say that there is still creativity and talent, cause interviewer interrupted him and asked about that. His words was pure emotions and subjectivity…

@Thatoneguy-12
@Thatoneguy-12 3 ай бұрын
@@mr.nobody2515 I think memorization does damage chess to an extent and that’s what Bobby was gettting at but I think he was just bitter at the idea of there being “set ups” and openings. Games starting and looking the same

Spassky was old here. (first game) I still say Fischer should have played Botvinnik in Iceland and defended his world title against Karpov if he even beat Botvinnik. We have know way of knowing whether Fischer is really the 3rd best player behind Carlsen and Kasparov because he didn't play Karpov. As genius as he was at chess...we don't know where to put him in the rankings.
