Featured is the excellent and instructive opening trap that was played in the chess game between Bobby Fischer and Samuel Reshevsky from the 1958/59 U.S. Chess Championship. The opening is a Sicilian, Accelerated Dragon with Reshevsky attempting to exchange his knight for Fischer’s light-squared bishop on move 8. Fischer’s continuation must have been a great surprise to Reshevsky, who after only 12 moves, was without a queen and losing to the 15-year-old Fischer.
I'm a self-taught National Master in chess out of Pennsylvania, USA who was introduced to the game by my father in 1988 at the age of 8. The purpose of this channel is to share my knowledge of chess to help others improve their game. I enjoy continuing to improve my understanding of this great game, albeit slowly. Yep. He's one of the few early KZbin content creators that's still around. I've been following him since about a year after he started. Great quality all the time, even when the quantity isn't high.

Yup. I was in high school, now I’m 27. This was one of the first KZbin channels I ever started watching consistently. My favorite videos were those when Jerry used to play in those online blitz tournaments and he was fishing-poleing everyone. Those were so funny 😆

The highlights are a bit blinding but I really like this concept. When an opponent's piece is moved away, you should at least consider which of your pieces can effectively exploit the squares it is no longer defending!

Wow. Such a well known opening! Such a subtle trap - the jaws close slowly but inexorably. At least in the hands of a master like Fisher.

I had this happen to me in a game on Lichess. It was a 5min blitz game, and immediately my Spidey senses went wild, but I just couldn't remember the sequence, so it took me 2min to me two minutes to find e5. I was super happy I got to replicate this game. Well not entire game, but I checkmated the dude shortly.

I get annoyed when opponents play on down a queen in rapid; can’t imagine being OTB in a classical game with the opponent playing on another 30 moves. Wonder how Fischer felt 😂

As to one person's comment this game was previously covered, well, it's always a pleasure to see the genius mind of Bobby Fischer at work. I'm delighted to watch this brilliant game many times- especially with the golden glow of highlight victory. ♟️
