Someone else mentioned on one of these vids, that Bobby Vega is like that cool uncle you have that buys your first album and has a small house but with a ton of guitars lying around in it. Probably also owns and older classic car that's somewhat beat up looking but still runs like a dream (much like his Jazz bass)

Mr Vega is a true gem. I've been using a jazz and different set-ups with a Acoustic 150 head (I have a Gen 1 and a Gen 2) or a 370 head (beast!) with a 106 cab for years and personally, there's is nothing that compare's to a vintage Acoustic rig. Bless you Bobby.

Late comment : i was looking for videos about the legendary Acoustic 360 bass amp and i came across this one. I was somewhat familiar with Bobby Vega and knew he had a pretty storied career, so i was glad to see he was gonna demonstrate how the amp rig sounded with his Jazz bass. Man, when he started playing, i was smiling and just tripping on how smooth and cool he sounded. Total professional, humble and super-talented doesn't begin to describe. So glad i stumbled onto this video, amazing !

c.a.t.wallace By all means, use a pick if you want to, but if digging in with your fingers destroys them, keep trying. The ends of my fingers are like little battering rams, I almost couldn't hurt them on strings even if I tried.

Absoutely loving this. Some of my favourite bass lines played on an AWESOME bass plugged into a KILLER amp. I've no idea what any of this has to do with EMG pickups, but thanks for making me smile a great big one. I'd love to know what gauge those strings are, by the way - they seem to bend like putty in your hands!

Once upon a time I played Bass in a Garage Band. I bought an Acoustic 150B stack and played a 1972 Rickenbacher 4001. This was a formidable power pair. I'd shook the rafters many times. People used to ask why this pricy setup. I told them I paid cash for it thanks to my Navy Separation Pay and this gear pleased me immensly. No Internet back then, so I researched the 150B by burning shoe leather visiting Music Stores, Chuck Levin's in Wheaton Maryland was the best. My Rick research was accomplished by correspondence with a major user at the time who I'd seen live. Chris Squire was a tall, lanky Bass Player and a great guy from the Band YES. We discussed his unique sound which he did not discuss with just anybody. He used a blonde 4001 Rick and a double Acoustic 360 setup. I was eventually invited to be with the Band as their guest when they played a Large area Venue in 1975. Most folks in my area were either into C&W or Soul Music. English Progressive Rock was not on their menu. Bands like ELP and YES put it on mine. That was then those bands and my band are long gone. But I still play bass for my own gratification. The 150B is now a vintage Marshall Micro Bass Stack practice amp and and a pair of Tobias Basses. One 4 string, the other 5. I occasionally toy with the idea of finding a 360 in descent condition. Ya never know. They are around.
