Bobcat: 3:41 "I'm leaving, I'm tired of this chicken shit coyote always saying he wants to fight but runs every time I come with an foot of him. Run home to mommy"
@charlesreader73242 жыл бұрын
That is a classic way in which canine predators work: dont rush in and hope for the best, just keep wearing the enemy down. The weak point in all felines is their small heart, which means their heavy, strong muscles tire quickly. The canids, with their huge hearts, lungs and blood vessels can go on forever. They know more poweful predators will soon tire - and thats when they move in. Thats why cougars avoid wolves and leopards avoid African hunting dogs.

The coyote does waste all his stamina for running in circles while the bobcat only uses energy for a occasional burst. This way they could both tire at the same rate until the bobcat decides to go for a tree.

@charlesreader7324 However, even a tired cat will ultimately stand its ground to fight to the death. Good points you make. Notwithstanding, we observe solo felines demolishing canines with ease in instances where the cat exhibits the disposition to be the aggressor. Felines are equipped in physiology & are instinctively predisposed as ferocious & skillful quick-killers possessing five weapons to the one of a canine. Ostensibly, canines, except in packs or where there is a substantial advantage in size, are readily outgunned in 1-1 engagements against a determined feline.

As Prince Humperdinck said in _The Princess Bride_ , "There was a mighty duel. Both were masters." And as a fencer myself, not a master but I have "a-studied my Agrippa" and all the other real Renaissance fencing masters name-dropped in the prior scene when the actual swordplay happened, this was definitely a standoff between fencing masters. Both made feigned attacks to see how the other would react. Both made feigned retreats to see how far they could lure the enemy in before launching a decisive counterattack. And both were prepared for such feints by the other. And so they just traded verbal insults while circling around each other just out of the reach of their blades. Eventually, they decided the game wasn't worth the candle and went their separate ways with honor satisfied on both sides and no blood shed on either side. And with mutual respect I'm sure.

Not sure why every video like this has every single comment saying how the cat would shred the coyote so easily when it's usually coyotes killing bobcats. "In some areas, coyotes share their ranges with bobcats. These two similarly-sized species rarely physically confront one another, though bobcat populations tend to diminish in areas with high coyote densities.[154] However, several studies have demonstrated interference competition between coyotes and bobcats, and in all cases coyotes dominated the interaction.[155][156] Multiple researchers[157][158][159][156][160] reported instances of coyotes killing bobcats, whereas bobcats killing coyotes is more rare.[155] Coyotes attack bobcats using a bite-and-shake method similar to what is used on medium-sized prey. Coyotes, both single individuals and groups, have been known to occasionally kill bobcats. In most cases, the bobcats were relatively small specimens, such as adult females and juveniles.[156] Coyote attacks, by an unknown number of coyotes, on adult male bobcats have occurred. In California, coyote and bobcat populations are not negatively correlated across different habitat types, but predation by coyotes is an important source of mortality in bobcats."" Wiki

Just like a bigger version of a house cat vs a fox, it's a good match up, normally foxes are a bit bigger than a house cat just like a coyote is normally slightly bigger than a Bobcat, but it's almost a battle of the minds, obviously of both are the same size in a straight fight as long as it doesnt last over 10minutes then the cat should win, my god does an attack from any car species hurt.

Keep in mind that a Coyote has a strong jaw and the Bobcat only has its paws, its jaw not terribly useful in a fight. The cat can scratch away at the Coyote and I'm sure it'll hurt like hell but it will take very long to kill it. The Coyote on the other hand only has to put its jaw around the Bobcat's neck for a few seconds and it's lights out for the cat. In reality, the Bobcats are way more agressive so the fight usually never starts because the Coyote doesn't want to get scratched up. Should both species be forced to fight to the end however, and with both animals in their prime, my money is on the Coyote simply because it has the weapons to kill, the Bobcat only has the weapons to hurt. Its paws were made for smaller prey.

Coyotes as pack animals are inferior in physiology & innate fighting skills to felines. Whereas dogs have endurance & persistence, cats have more weapons (teeth + 4 sets of razor sharp claws), coupled with greater musculature, explosive speed and greater violence in their attack. Cat are ambush killers that operate in a quick fury...a similar sized cat will vanquish a similar size dog. That coyote would have suffered its ‘ass handed back to it in a sling’ had it persisted. Notice too how the dog expended much energy circling while the cat preserved energy mostly staying put; cats have higher metabolisms than dogs and must conserve movement. Tactically, a solo big cat would be at a disadvantage against a pack of wild dogs out on flat & open range. Therefore, (smart) cats roam wooded & hilly/mountain areas.
@KingHaggis3 жыл бұрын
@@Snookynibbles You're obviously a cat person. One bite in the neck by a powerful dogs jaw and it's bye bye kitty. The cat only has flappy paws made to kill small prey. They can hurt the coyote but to kill it it would take very long time. The cats usually scare the coyotes away cause cats are grumpy and ferocious and coyotes are quite careful (or cowardly even). But make no mistake, should it come to a fight where both creatures can't escape, the dog has the weapons to kill swiftly where the cat only has the weapons to hurt. I'd bet my money on the coyote in that case. Sick and tired of reading all this cat superhero bullshit.

@@KingHaggisBut it’s true - physiologically an individual cat is far superior to an individual dog. Stronger, faster, quicker, better reflexes, much, much more fast-twitch muscle fibers (explosivity in motion), their only shortcoming is endurance but since they’re ambush predators they don’t have to run prey over long distances. So surprise surprise, if a coyote takes on a bobcat on the bobcat’s terms the coyote will almost certainly lose, and vice versa. Don’t forget that where wild animals are concerned a win doesn’t mean having to kill the other animal, it just means not being killed or injured badly enough that it can’t hunt. I think you’re confusing a bobcat’s claws with a house cat’s, the bobcat’s are about 3x as long. Like all cat claws except for cheetahs’ they’re curved so that they slice deeper into flesh as they’re pulled along, a bobcat paw swipe that connects will lay the flesh open down to the ribcage or skull.

The fox that used to come call my cat out of my cabin at night to go hunt rabbits became complacent and ended up in the jaws of my 80 lb pitbull- I kicked him and he let go only to have my 45 lb pitbull grab him. Foxes look big and fluffy until a pitbull shakes them like a ragdoll- so fast it's awe-inspiring( felt very bad for that fox- he and my cat were hunting buddies). That was in the '90s- before coyotes showed up and started killing everything- most of the small animals and turkeys have disappeared. Good to have a few pitbulls or huskys around if you have coyote problems.
