This guy seems like he is very respectful of the environment and what he takes from it. Yesterday I watched a video where he ate a cactus but when he took the plant he said what he did just killed the plant but that they were in abundance. Said the same thing about the snake population in this video. Genuine gesture and respect about taking from the land and respecting it at the same time. Edit: Watched another video where he discusses ethics behind using live bait such as a live mouse to trap a snake. Seemed like he didn't feel comfortable with using live bait to catch another animal

Well you thought right... I'm a survivalist but we don't have snakes big enough usually, to make a meal out of in Minnesota. That said... we do home the timber rattler and a few other species. I've found them deer hunting in early november, always wondered if I got lost and found one would I take the time to clean a 3 foot gartner snake. I would now. But my go to will always fish and crawdads.

Ate rattlesnake about 35 years ago while in the marines on a desert maneuver in the Mojave. Caught one with a buddy of mine from Arizona who's had it before. Wasn't bad, considering all I had was a little garlic powder and Worcester sauce that I always took with me to spice up the C- rations when on operations. No frying pan, corn meal, oil, etc. just skinned and gutted and cooked it on a stick over a fire. I remember thinking "not too bad" but I've never been a fussy eater.
@PomKiss6 жыл бұрын
Your garlic powder was 10x better than that cornmeal, salt, and pepper. I couldn't help but think, "That snake might taste a little bland..."

@@benpope9502 I kind of enjoyed getting off Pendleton and going on operations. Things were a little more lose when you're out in the field. But, as a kid from Wisconsin, one thing I learned was when people say "Well, it's a dry heat so it's not so bad." "Dry" heat or not, 110-120 degrees IS HOT!! It was also fascinating to see how much temperatures can drop when the sun goes down in such an arid environment. We'd wake up in our sleeping bags pretty damn cold.
