Excellent, great work, thanks - one sees some fantastic layouts spoiled by all the signals not changing!

Great video Richard. These signals look really easy to install and setup. I've seen some other videos that have made this process seem quite daunting, but after watching this I'm definitely going to go down this route.

i must say i love this layout with its modern image look, ive bought a couple of traintronics signals but not yet installed them, think the heathcote controller might b something i go for, keep the good videos coming as it certainly helps as im a bit rusty with my model railway bits!

At 9:17, was there aa piece of tissue paper on top of the sensor to keep the light red? After the HST went by, another shot was shown and the tissue paper was gone and then the light went to double yellow.

Nice video and very easy system and explanation. Do the signals control the trains i.e. a red stops the train or is that up to the driver ?

Up to the driver

good to see heathcote are still making their units. Haven't heard their name used for a while. got to do something about the signals mate, the light bleed ruins the overall effect of the layout.
@prunesquallor80166 жыл бұрын
Very nice concept, particularly the signal to signal control. I think that the light output of the LEDs need to be attenuated to prevent overspill - and blinding the driver. He's only small. A resistor in the signal leads would work. Small point, but for those of you which mainly run steam locomotive-hauled trains, I understand that the practice was "last wheel replacement" to red. So, in the days of yore when trains had a brake van at the back and the guard was assiduously monitoring the train's progress and looking out of the ducket at signals, he should not see a red light being passed, hence, last wheel replacement. Can this be done on this system? Will mere relocation in advance of the signal be useful?
@darrelldeltic8077 жыл бұрын
Definitely a massive addition to a great layout, wasn't sure if the sequence was quite right at the end though as I didn't see it go to amber after the double amber , still looked so good mate, will you be linking additional signals or just keeping it to the one along the stretch of scenic layout? Cheers Dazza

i have a similar system from another company and they are very good what make ate the signals ? you might want to reduce the voltage to the led's if you can as this will drop the brightness a bit. these are a very nice addition to your layout :)

Nice system but I think Ansaldo installed the wires between the signal and the circuit board! Hehehe. on a serious note, there is a lot of light contamination between lenses. Could you not put some paint around the lenses to prevent the light leaching to the non illuminated lenses?

Can you set them to stay red until they are cleared manually by a switch of sorts? I'm running on a bi-directional single track, so having them change to green when a train would be coming in the opposite direction isn't realistic at all and I'm guessing it would mess up the censor sequence, too.
@NewJunction6 жыл бұрын
MickMaan These Mas sequencers in particular are the automatic sort however Heathcote themselves do an endless array of boards for all scenarios. Give them a look up. :-)

@waynejohns72665 жыл бұрын
Thin wires are usulay varnish protected - so to solder you need to scrape varnish from end. Cover soldered joint with heat shink.

the light bleed is bad between aspects. This could be stopped by painting the body of the LEDs ? looked through the comments, is it just me?
