This is perfect for me. Nobody gave me any training whatsoever at my job so I'm trying to figure it out on my own...

I have noticed something interesting. At a clothing retail store where I work, when I am wearing a black blazer, all kinds of people come up to me with what they need help with. I don't even have to say anything.

Also known as passing go. However it works better if you greet the customer holding something or pretending to fold something Etc comment on something nice they are wearing (but only if they're actually wearing something nice because they'll know if you're full of crap if they're not wearing anything nice), Etc. Non-business conversation ( naturally not scripted because it again they will know but this isn't something you learn overnight you have to know how to do it), but keep it short and simple and then leave the customer without telling them to look around and you will come back and check on them. Because now any time you go near them they are going to know that you are coming ' back to check on them' and they don't need you to check on them yet at the time of delivering this command at the store entrance.

Your the best Bob. It's true I feel bad when a Sales Promoter come straight to me asking "Can I help you?". I hate those experience. Love your tips and will buy your book. Do you have it in eBook?

What about having a second salesman approach the customer the second time so he feels he can shop around and not feel like he has to respond to the rep just because he is in his face?
