Bodging together a Miele S6000 that fell down some stairs...

This came in as a job the other day, could I make this work any better, after it fell down the stairs it doesn't sit right... I think we can, so let's see how broken it is, and how we can fix* it with a random woodscrew!

Never in a million years would that charcoal filter have been ok - after a year or two they are done and just restrict airflow

A good save from the scrap pile but we reckon you are correct that this poor machine will return to a tortured life and we suspect may throw itself down the stairs again 😮 Quality on these machines is incomparable to the older generations in our opinion. 👍

Good to know about the downfall in miele quality everywhere on the internet people say miele is the best but never talk about any negatives. I like miele vacuums but the bags are quite expensive unless I'm looking in the wrong places. £20 for 8 bags is a lot sure you get a filter but I still think it's expensive for 8 bags of you could get 4 bags for £13.

There has always been a premium to be paid for the genuine disposables on Miele products. In our opinion the prices are toppy but the quality of materials used and their workmanship is superior and hence a price worth paying. You can imagine it pains us to say that comparing Miele bags with Sebo bags would be a win for Miele. Don't get us wrong, Sebo bags and filters are excellent but not quite as good as Miele. We would say that genuine Sebo bags (or service box) would certainly run cheaper than the equivalent Miele, maybe a 30% saving over a year of use for us. In our experience pattern bags are always a false economy. They suffer from poor fit, leaky seals, clog up too quickly or let fine dust through.
