Hi Dani! It's so funny I just ran into this video after actually praying and talking to God about this topic. It seems that when I turned 30 I couldn't eat everything I used to without gaining weight and doing absolutely no exercise. But now I feel that since I get bloated after I eat or feel chunkier in my waist I get so fixated on what I'm eating and I go from extremes of not eating to eating and then even feeling guilty when I eat certain foods. I totally agree and relate with everything you've shared in this video about societal expectations and comparisons. I feel like I've struggled because I want to look a certain way and I'm very critical with my body image. I would love to learn more about how the ways you talked about begining to be encouraging towards my self and asking questions rather than trying to look a certain way because you are absolutely right that even if I were to get there it doesn't last because it's more in my mind and emotions. I also want to have a good balance of foods and not exclude everything or go crazy either. Thank you so much for all of your shared knowledge and encouragement, it helps alot and I love your recipes also!!! Lucy.

♥️ I’ve been subscribed and watching for a long time but don’t spend a lot of time in the comments. Today I’ve been more actively scrolling the comment sections of your videos and I noticed everyone is very complimentary, polite, and encouraging, and you interact and respond to most everyone. I had this gut reaction of ‘aw, the smaller channels are so wholesome’ and then saw you got your gold play button and have over 1M subscribers! I don’t know if you’ll see this but I just want to applaud you for creating and maintaining this community and environment. Especially in the very polarized health and fitness space!

I really appreciate this message. What sabotages me is the mental game. The stress I create by the demand of perfection. Perfection in my healthy eating, comes from a critical and self-loathing place. I can see how changing my focus to a slower (because I don’t hate myself and I do not need to change my body overnight), more grace-filled, journey, should empower me with the diligence to stay focused.

It is a struggle and when i started my health journey my main goal was weight loss and I had no idea how much of a mental challenge it would be to me. It wasn't until I paid attention to the mental part that I could understand why I was eating the way I did. Now I am about love and acceptance and eating healthier. Thank you for sharing and making the topic easy and relatable. 💞

It took me many, many years to love my body while still being able to lose weight. I used to vacillate between being "motivated" to lose weight and accepting my body. But really, loving my body as it is has helped me lose weight because I'm respecting my body enough to give it what makes it healthy. With wanting to lose weight for health, rather than vanity, I find it much easier to appreciate my body along the journey.

Spent most of my adult years 30-70 pounds overweight. I found that treating my attempts at weight loss like ‘a process’ or a journey’ or even ‘a goal’ was a mistake. For reaching some arbitrary finish line immediately resulted in me going back to the old habits that put all that weight on. Frankly, no amount of positive self talk was ever gonna make me ok with the fat failure I seen in the mirror. 2 years ago I decided healthy eating had to be a lifestyle I would practice daily and carry on till the grave. Only then did I reach, and more importantly, maintain a healthy weight. Now I see someone on the right track when I look into the mirror at the person I spent decades dreaming would stare back.

Love this! This to me is the difference between dieting a REAL weight loss. We have to make changes we are willing to live with FOREVER. IF we approach weight loss doing things we don't want to do, we will always be looking for the moment to cheat or stop. Sounds like you found a way to make changes for life!

Thanks for sharing this Dani, very powerful, you are amazing. I shared my journey with acne and also how my husband was able to reverse his type two diabetes from a lifestyle change on my channel. If you treat healthy eating like a lifestyle change just like brushing your teeth or getting out of bed then you'll start to see amazing results, you'll feel and look good. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of your mindset in this journey, drop the goal setting to lose weight mentality, focus on the becoming healthier you and see magic start to happen. 2 years ago I could not go out freely because of my skin and once I embarked on that lifestyle change really thinking more healthy I have been looking and feeling amazing. Weight loss comes seamless when you think and eat healthy.

This is so important and you make great points. Also, if you have a judgmental and harsh view of your body, nothing will ever be enough. Even when you make progress it’ll never be enough and you’ll constantly be asking more from yourself. This is detrimental to our mental health which is such an important part of our entire health.

I really needed this. Menopause decided to show up during quarantine and I see a complete shift in my body composition and a jump in pounds on top of what I already had. A lot of that negative talk is from the number on the scale so I decided that my clothes would be my guide.

Thank you sooooo very much for this video. It's definitely the middle ground that I've been looking for. I, too, have done every diet, hated myself and my body. I've even tried intuitive eating several times. But nothing works when one constantly verbally abuses oneself. As I've been working on loving the body I have I could not comprehend the idea of healthy at any weight. I'm not healthy, my body hurts from the extra weight. I want to loose weight so that I can work in the garden and go for a walk with my puppers. Thank you for this video. There aren't too many like this. I'm enjoying your recipes and other videos. I finally feel that I can do this. Thank you!

I have been and and I am still struggling with my weight loss and the goal of losing weight has been really tormenting me. I fell back into a food rut, ate healthy and then started bing eating again...but I remember watching one of your videos, in which you explained that it's counter-productive to focus on the weight loss aspect and shift the attention to getting healthier and fitter. It seemed so simple, but it really helped me in the last months. When I go out for a long walk now, I don't do it to lose 100 g of fat but to feel better, to listen to great music and get some oxygen and this has helped me tremendously!!! thank you x

A little over a year ago I decided to become 100% whole food plant based. It was the best decision for me. I have learned in the last year to be kind and loving to myself. In the process losing 20 lbs this past year. You are absolutely right weight loss & body acceptance goes hand in hand. By example I am teaching my children to love their bodies and nourish it with good things. I enjoy watching your videos and love the vegan recipes, thank you!

i agree weight loss is more than the science mechanics we all know: But its also how you feel about your self .you must except who you are and come to terms with your own self ; i would also say find the right exercise; weather it be gym. yoga. walking. running . etc. but find one that you absolutely love do it on your own if you wish though i feel find a group of like minded friends then it all becomes easier you not exercising your doing something you enjoy and with friends it becomes a social outlet along with good food and loving yourself your life becomes a happy journey and most the time weight loss will happen along the way ;

I found enjoying preparing meals (I food prep as pushed for time in the week) a good tool, and learning to take time with my meals and enjoy them, whether eating alone or with others, just like traditional France, was key to keep that going and still am 6years later, but now its the norm.

I agree with your message, as a person who has over 100 pounds , I still continue to struggle with body images due to my weight loss, we are always our own worst critic, and with today's society of IGs "body" ,just adds more pressure. More talk and positivity is always good. Thank you again
@CleanandDeliciousDani4 жыл бұрын
The interesting thing is that body image struggles really have nothing to do with our weight b/c people of ALL shapes and sizes have this struggle. That inner critic is what needs our love and attention because it will be there even after we lose weight IF we don't work to change that conversation. XO

This really hits home for me. I grew up in a home with a lot of disfunction and judgement around food, weight and body image. I've been up (right now) and way too low on the scale, however, no matter what the number is Ive rarely liked what Ive seen in the mirror. Im a total self sabotager too. Are there any books or materials you would recommend? Im realizing that its the psychological aspects of learning to love myself and stop the self sabotage in order to make peace with myself and have a healthy relationship with food. Thank you so much!

I have MS for 8 yrs now.. 2 yrs ago I had an attack and I vowed to not have another one! I dropped every fake, processed food,... 1 yr later I turned to the size of my bone structure, very weird for me! But everyone around me made me feel weird cause how healthy and thin I got but hearing all that all the time made my brain think twice about being so committed and started eating ‘junk’ again, lightly getting thick again but then decided to block these talks out of psyche so now getting healthy again, the people still can’t believe it and I get compliments everywhere but i eat healthy for ‘My’ own benefit, but it still makes me cringe seeing the fast food lines everyday it scares me... RN my body so health healthy but minus the MS of course but that made me turn to plant based so yay lol

Insulin resistance is the main reason the body stops burning fat and starts storing it instead. Elevated blood sugar levels ALL DAY LONG due to diet, is the reason insulin resistance eventually builds. Cut sugar, cut things that convert quickly to sugar. It's the only way out. Do you think it is like a road trip to the final destination? You can love the scenery (and pit stops) along the journey as well as loving the final destination? I think I have a limited belief if I love my body now, there is no need to lose weight.

Love you Dani and have been following you for 10 years. I've read Atomic Habits! It was recommended by Dr. Susan Peirce Thompson who is the author of Bright Line Eating. Please check out Bright Line Eating. There is a true physical reason why it is so difficult for many to make the shift you are speaking of. I am one of them. I have built a program of habits and support that no longer have me focused on a number on a scale - or the scale at all for that matter - and have me moving in the right direction. Thank you for all you do!

That's the key, isn't it? Habits that don't only focus on end results!
