So glad You did this today because I was a no sugar person for years and fell off the wagon due to many factors that you mentioned. Stress from needing a home and emotional sadness. My functional doctor has said that I wasn’t getting enough protein and that is an issue as you said. Homeostasis is sooo key! It can be easy (if u stay there) but I find having the right tools (kitchen necessities) around you and ability to obtain healthy food makes a big difference! Thank you again. These reminders are the things that help us to get back on track. For instance, I haven’t bought a box of cereal in years until yesterday. I saw a KZbin video with the “Dunkin” cereal and they said that it smelled like coffee beans. Next day I was in the store and grabbed a box. (Can’t have coffee due to acidity and I love it) careful everyone, of those subtle advertisements, that will get you when you’re in the store. Good luck. 🥰. Wish I could get into some type of “beat the sugar” addict group. I’m sure there are some on Facebook. Good luck all 💓

@Clean & Delicious Your video explains a lot. I have always had a horrible sweet tooth. Do you have any extra suggestions for someone who is unable to increase protein due to health reasons (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome)? It's also the cause of constant fatigue which can't be alleviated by simple fixes (or anything tbh) I am on 7 medications that increase my appetite so my weight has become a problem. At first it wad a good thing as I was always borderline underweight before my diagnosis (constant stomach issues made me want to rarely eat) but over the years, with each new medication and having a child, I have steadily gained 70 pounds. I would love to be rid of 50. But would be satisfied with 25. I went on phenterimine and lost 20 over a year, but I couldn't maintain eating only 1200 to 1500 calories a day, so over the next year and a half i gained 35. I am unable to exercise as it releases histamine. I know you will say consult a dietician or whatever, but I live in a rural area with a lot of poverty, and so there aren't many doctors and I couldn't afford one if there were. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

tips that have helped me personally: 1. eat a complete meal with PROTEIN!!! 2. when you get the craving, drink water 3. drink hot coffee or tea (preferably no sugar added) 4. be mindful (maybe write down how you feel, bc a lot of times is just anxiety 😬) 5. find something to do maybe you are just bored. 6. go for a walk 7. if the cravings are REALLY BAD. eat a fruit rich in fiber, such as pear, apples or berries. 8. dark chocolate (70 or 80% cacao)

The sugar craving always start with emotions :-( I noticed if I am feeling depressed or unloved or just plain old sad, I will reach for CHOCOLATE! I have really worked at allowing myself say, no more than 3 small pieces of chocolate when I am unhappy. And I also try and remember all the things I am really GRATEFUL for. If I am really moody, I will begin by wiggling my toes (which usually makes me smile since I have started at the "bottom") and it is silly to be grateful for wiggling my toes, then I try to recap all the beautiful things in my day. Gratitude is grace!!!

Coming from a beekeeper, get local honey. A lot of store bought honey is from overseas or a long distance away. It's also been pasteurized, which takes all the beneficial stuff and cooks it away. Stay local. Eat local. 🐝🌻
@ashleystanley7941
@ashleystanley7941 4 жыл бұрын
I definitely support eating local as much as possible. However, for anyone reading without access to local honey there are a couple of companies that have raw, unpasteurized honey. Nature Nate's has raw, unpasteurized honey available in both organic and non-organic. I've ordered theirs from Sam's Club and Kroger before during quarantine or winter time when our market's closed. We prefer to shop with our local beekeepers at the farmer's market. There are three keepers who sell honey along with other produce, baked goods, and spreads. Local is the best and the freshest!

I'm a big advocate of using local honey as many have mentioned. Instead of sugars I'll use maple syrup or honey instead (like in oatmeal). I read this tip in a magazine years ago: To reduce a chocolate craving choose a darker chocolate and start with just a square, instead of chewing it, allow the square to melt on your tongue and pool in your mouth. It gives that dopamine rush without a tonne of calories and I swear you will not want more, it satiates your chocolate and sweets craving. It really works!

I've struggled and conquered drug addiction in my life. I've also love sweets all my life. I realize now that sugar is a true addiction. It is no joke. The mad intense cravings i have for sugar are pretty much the same that i had for drugs. What really helps me is to wait out the cravings. It will usually pass in 30 minutes. Or Eat some nuts. Or have a piece of fruit. At least fruit provides fiber, vitamins, minerals, and water. It also gives ur stomach a feeling of fullness. If im craving chocolate, i take a swig of a chocolate protein drink. I don't drink the whole bottle but rather maybe 2 tablespoons worth. It gives me the chocolate flavor to satiate my craving. P.S. Sugar cravings are real. I wish fruit stopped me from wanting a slice of chocolate cake but it doesn't. Sugar is put into everything that isn't whole foods in the supermarkets because it sells. In the U.K. GMO's are not allowed to be put in the food. But it's perfectly fine to do so in the U.S.A. All our groceries should be organic and we shouldn't have to spend more money to get everything organic. No wonder so many Americans are obese. Most people don't stand a chance against the "non food" sold on the shelves of almost every supermarket chain. Thank you for your video, Dani. It's very informative and educational.

Thank you, you made several things understandable that were confusing to me. Example: the reason being tired makes you want sugar is my body is so smart it's looking for a quick energy fix. I'm obese and have been working on losing weight. I know being tired will cause me to graze for sugar or carbs. Plus I don't want to prepare quality foods later in the day. I can't sleep more than about 6 hours a night. But when I take naps they're almost always 2 hour naps, I feel I waste so much of the day I try to stay awake to get my sleep at night. It rarely works because I can fall asleep in a chair in the middle of the day. I try going to bed earlier and do all the things I've heard to do to be ready to sleep. But it's the wake up thing, once I'm awake there's no going back to sleep. It's almost always 6 hours no matter what time I go to bed. If I'm in bed at 9:00 I'm up at 3:00 so I try to go to sleep at 10:00 or later because 4:00 or 5:00 feels like an ok time to wake up. Thanks for the information.

Reduction strategies: - I eat about 350/500 total grams of different types of vegetables with every meal and I eat 4/6 times per day. This aids in feeling full because of the amount of fiber. - carb timing. In my case just before training and when I'm not in a deficit, also after. - Strong flavoured tea (without sugar ofcourse) during or after a meal - frozen fruits - often eat low calorie dense foods in order to relearn and appreciate the natural 'sweetness' of those types of food and experiment with different temperatures in order to maximise that effect. Think of heated carrots or onions for example. - if it truly is a conscious choice from a perspective of health or to aid reaching a certain goal, say to yourself 'it is my choice to leave it'. - reassess if there might be a source of hidden sugar in a certain product that may cause a trigger. - replace the habit by consuming something with an opposing flavor profile.

I’m glad you are touching on this theme, it’s so crucial. The sugar ist like a drug, the more you eat, the more you would want it. The great thing is, that there’s natural sugar substitutes like stevia and erythritol, which won’t affect the insulin and you can use them for any baking and sweets. You also crave for sweets when you have nutrient deficiencies. Getting enough proteins, good fats, vitamins and minerals reduces sugar cravings incredibly😊I recommend also cardio exercise and fasting so that your body can occasionally go to the fat burning metabolism, which stops not just the sugar craving but give your body time to reset and renew. Thank you for this great video!

I definitely need this! I quit eating sugar for the third time four months ago. I just fell off the wagon a week ago. I just cannot go without sugar. I’ve quit so many things in my life. I just have no desire to quit sugar and coffee. I just need to be careful to only eat really high-quality things that don’t have fake sugar in them. Also just make my own homemade desserts for the most part. Then use these tips that I’m going to go listen to right now. I have learned about vegetables especially in the brassica family fighting candida. Which is the reason why I quit eating sugar. But if I would just eat more vegetables and eat less sugar I should be OK!

Hey Dani!!! Love your videos:) My biggest hang up is coffee and the (delight)French vanilla creamer. I know it’s not good for me. I cannot seem to find anything to replace it without feeling like I’m depriving myself or feeling rebellious about cutting it out. Can you make a detailed video on how you make your coffee! I want to eventually let go of the creamer,but I want to replace it with better quality.

Just drink black coffe. If organic, its a healthy beverage if you consume in moderation, so 2-3 cups a day. The bitterness also helps to reduce sugar cravings and resets the taste buds. If you need fat in it, try to add a teaspoon of coconut oil - thats my drink after my morning-running-session. Do it for a week and it becomes a habit.

Thank you so much! Number 5 would be my problem area. And some sleep or not getting enough good rest at night. I’m just dealing with my childhood trauma and I’m starting a new business and I’ve been single for the last 13 years. I will tell you it has been so tough. My diet is pretty but when I get a little stressed I hear the sweets calling me. Sometimes I’m ok other times I’m not. My go to is chia pudding with strawberries with cacao chocolate bits, or an apple with raw nuts pecans or walnuts, pumpkin seeds. Plus water…. I walk every day been fasting too hard to get some weight off. So I don’t know. …. But this a great video thanks again! I will be paying close attention to my triggers.❤️😇🙏🏽

I used to have a really bad sweet tooth. When I would drink soda one day and then the next day I was thirsty for more soda so I would ignore the cravings by redirecting my mind to do something else like take a walk or just doing something to keep my mind off of the cravings. I don’t drink soda anymore. I tell myself that I don’t need it. I stopped eating junk food and try eating healthy options now. And I’ve lost 14 lbs. in the process. 😃 I reach for a fruit 🍎 now instead of a cookie 🍪.

Hi (Shalom), Writing from Israel. If u remember me from an email I wrote u, I had gastric bypass surgery to lose weight. I have lost weight and my body, per the type of surgery I have had and blood tests show that I am low in my protein which is terribly annoying to me. I understand that protein is important, however I keep craving salt, and not sugar.. I do drink a protein drink almost every morning, but my body has issues with absorbing nutrients. I try to not buy or eat potatoe chip. Instead, I have 'trained' my body (and myself), to stay clear from most junk food....because i know how I really crave salt. So I buy a lot of zucchini (the light green ones) and scrub or peel them, nuke and eat my zucchini with salt. And I enjoy what I am eating. Yet I still struggle emotionally with the idea that I am eating what I consider to be too much salt. Advice/advise me - and others - about craving salt. I love your calm soothing voice that conveys to the viewers a better way to eating healthier. Blessings, love and prayers, from Israel

I definitely come from the emotional side. Sugar has been a way to treat my depression while alcohol to treat my anxiety. I would feel better, but only momentarily. I can rule out others like protein since I meal plan and that has been accounted for. My progress has been a slow weening of those things. That seems to be working for me. An example, instead of getting a coke or pepsi at a drive thru, I would get a lemonade, then eventually I went down to getting only unsweet tea. I don't miss the coke or the lemonade. When it comes to alcohol I would only buy enough for 1 night instead of a supply that lasts me a week or more; effectively using my laziness to help me by making myself have to drive everyday to get more. Then, slowly increasing the gaps of time between nights of drinking. A week, then a couple weeks, then to a month, and so on. As far as dealing with the root emotional issues, talking about it to those I trust helps a lot for me. My emotional issues aren't a fast heal, so I have had to learn patience with myself along the way and forgive myself when I do cave into cravings. The more I keep trying the easier it becomes.

Yes, for me all about emotion but I always have to do a very restrictive diet or i'll end up going off the deep end worse than before! I have been meal planning daily for awhile and have lost 17 pounds and I was glad you mentioned stevia because that has gotten me through. I like to eat stoneyfield with sweetener and fresh fruit mixed altogether. I get a slump in the afternoon and think my blood sugar has plummeted. I'm excited to do the class 😊💙

I have tried to come off sweeteners for ages and could not do it. I have started to use your method and it works a treat and don’t need to much honey or maple syrup. However, one effect I am observing is that my mood is improving, which, given these are not the easiest of times, is slightly bizarre, but obviously very welcome. I know mood is made up of complex factors but nothing else has changed in my personal circumstances and the weather is pretty miserable, which I normally feel a bit grumpy about. Have you come across this before? In any case I thank you so much for the tip. I’ll keep you posted how things are going! 😊😊😊😊🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Sugar gives me a terrible sinus headache and artificial sweeteners (even stevia) give me major stomach upset and bloat. - I even have to be careful with maple syrup, honey, fruits and coconut sugar.
