@Wallace Raymond Actually, it's an expression of respect for a lifetime of service and sympathy for a family in mourning. Also, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh was one of the few remaining people who fought for and served this country, with distinction, in World War II. I very much doubt you appreciate the irony of that very service giving you the right and opportunity to spew your vitriol. Perhaps you simply fail to understand the concept of service, you utterly fail to understand or exhibit a sense of decorum. A little trip to the naughty step may allow you to reflect on the hurt which may result from your vituperative comments. Alas, I fear I credit you with thoughts, emotions, logic and compassion beyond your ken.

Are you in love? probably not, never mind eh!

@Wallace Raymond That is your opinion. Your opinion does not make you right and it does not make you wrong. It is just that, your personal view. There are many reasons why people, including 'non-knee benders', are interested in Prince Philip's funeral. My Father-in-Law is of the same generation of Philip - 90 years old, served in the military and fought in the second World War. He watched to pay respect to a man of his generation (there are not many left) and because he respects military tradition and the manner in which the military respectfully and poignantly honour one of their own.

THE GOSPEL! BELIEVE and RECEIVE Jesus' free gift of salvation: 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 1 Moreover brethren, I declare unto you THE GOSPEL which I preached unto you, which ye have also received, and wherein ye continue, 2 And whereby ye ARE saved, IF ye keep in memory, after what manner I preached it unto you, except ye have believed in vain. 3 For first of all, I delivered unto you that which I received, how^ that Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures, 4 And that he was buried, and that he arose the third day, according to the Scriptures ^through the shed BLOOD of JESUS! Romans 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. The only hope we have is Jesus. Jesus is the answer. He’s the only answer, and He’s the only hope. And His return for us as His church is our only hope. That’s what the good news is. In fact, in 1 Thessalonians, the first epistle that the Apostle Paul wrote, he shares the gospel in the context of the Rapture in Chapter 4 of 1 Thessalonians, saying, for we believe that Jesus was crucified, buried, and rose again on the third day, and He’s coming back again one day. That’s the good news. RELIGION SAYS DO. JESUS CHRIST SAYS DONE!! Soon one life will be PAST and that which only was done for Jesus Christ will LAST! Ephesians 1:13-14 13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. 2 Corinthians 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. Do You Know God Personally? God LOVES you and offers a wonderful PLAN for your life. God’s Love “God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life” God’s Plan [Jesus speaking] “I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly” [that it might be full and meaningful” (John 10:10). Why is it that most people are not experiencing the abundant life? Because…Man is SINFUL and SEPARATED from God. Therefore, he cannot know and experience God’s love and plan for his life. Man Is Sinful “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Man was created to have fellowship with God; but, because of his stubborn self-will, he chose to go his own independent way, and fellowship with God was broken. This self-will, characterized by an attitude of active rebellion or passive indifference, is an evidence of what the Bible calls sin. Man Is Separated “The wages of sin is death” [spiritual separation from God] (Romans 6:23). Man is continually trying to reach God and the abundant life through his own efforts, such as a good life, philosophy, or religion - but he inevitably fails. The only way to bridge this gulf… He Died in Our Place “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). He Rose From the Dead “Christ died for our sins…He was buried…He was raised on the third day, according to the Scriptures…He appeared to Peter, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred…” (1 Corinthians 15:3-6). He Is the Only Way to God “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me’” (John 14:6). This shows that God has bridged the gulf which separates us from Him by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross in our place to pay the penalty for our sins. It is not enough just to know this…We must individually RECEIVE Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord; then we can know and experience God’s love and plan for our lives. We Must Receive Christ “As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name” (John 1:12) We Receive Christ Through Faith “By grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast” (Ephesians 2:8,9).When We Receive Christ, We Experience a New Birth ( John 3:1-8). We Receive Christ by Personal Invitation [Christ speaking] “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any one hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him” (Revelation 3:20). Receiving Christ involves turning to God from self (repentance) and trusting Christ to come into our lives to forgive our sins and to make us what He wants us to be. Just to agree intellectually that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He died on the cross for our sins is not enough. Nor is it enough to have an emotional experience. We receive Jesus Christ by faith, as an act of the will. All the work of salvation was done by Jesus Himself. He took upon Himself the punishment for our sins as well as the sins themselves, and went to the cross and paid for every sin that would ever be committed throughout history. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE BORN AGAIN?... The phrase “born again” applies to people who have accepted Jesus as their Savior or Redeemer. The born again soul realizes that they are a sinner (Romans 3:23) and that the penalty for that sin is death (Romans 6:23). To rectify the circumstances, God sent His only Son to die in their place, to take the punishment for sin (Romans 5:8). After Jesus’ death, He arose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:3-6). Jesus is the only way to God (John 14:6) and He provides the blessing of salvation. Each person has the choice to receive or reject God’s gift through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9) and experience new birth (John 3:1-8). WHAT IS BIBLICAL REPENTANCE? Biblical repentance is God centered repentance comes from the greek word 'METANOIA' which means change of one's mind and heart which imparts a new direction to the whole life. Repent (To repent, in relation to salvation, is to change your mind from unbelief to belief in Jesus Christ. To being dead in your sins to a new creature in Christ) and believe in the Gospel. The ABCs of Salvation: The A is for: Admit or acknowledge that you’ve sinned, that you need the Savior. Romans 3:10 says, “There is no one righteous, not even one.” Romans 3:23 tells us why. It’s because “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 6:23 says, “The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The B very simply is for: Believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord. Romans 10:9-10 says, “If you believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, you will be saved.” The C stands for: Call upon the name of the Lord. Or as Romans 10:9-10 also says, “If you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Here’s why, “For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” Romans 10:13 tells us how. It says, “All who call upon the name of the Lord will be saved.”.... So there you have it! The BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST is found all throughout the Gospel. You can't preach the blood, without preaching the Gospel, and you can't preach the Gospel without preaching the Blood. For the Bible clearly teaches salvation is by FAITH, without WORKS (Eph. 2:8,). Faith in what? FAITH IN THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST! Romans 3:25-28 make this clear: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. 27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. 28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. To be justified, or saved, a person's faith must be wholly in the shed blood of Jesus Christ. This declares God the Just one. When a sinner is saved, he cannot boast about himself or his works. He'll only brag upon Jesus who saved him from his sins! Sadly, in our modern age of apostasy, very few who claim to be Christians ever preach the blood of Jesus for salvation. But the simple Bible truth is, YOU CANNOT EVEN BE A CHRISTIAN UNLESS YOU ARE TRUSTING ONLY IN THE SHED BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST! /.,/.,

This is exactly how I felt when my grandfather died. Even as close as I was to him, I was not even crying at the funeral for the most part and I couldn't even understand why. But now I realize that I basically could not register what was happening because it didn't feel real. It was as if my grandfather was still alive somewhere, even though I was right there at his funeral. For the longest time afterward I had the sense that he was still alive but that I simply was not having any contact with him, and I often still feel that way today even though he died in 2017. Of course I cried heavily when it actually registered in my head that he was dead, but my mind kept going back and forth between surrealism and reality.

@@likejohnnyandjune2024 I definitely think that part of it is you don't want to believe it, so your natural instinct is to think that it didn't happen. That has always been a coping strategy for me and I just think it's intrinsically how I deal with death or a loss. I had a miscarriage of a baby in 2018, and while I do acknowledge that it happened, the only way I can cope with the loss is not to think or talk about it. I believe that I was doing the same thing when my grandfather died, because I do get teary-eyed whenever I actually stop to think about the fact that he died. I basically have to put it out of my mind to prevent this.

I know the feeling. Having buried just about my entire family including the only 2 people who ever truly loved me unconditionally, I concur. Funerals (except for the religious end of it blessing the deceased and what not) are actually for the living. So that we may grieve and say goodbye. Hence the surrealism. When Her Mother and Sister both died, you could see it. You could, if you watched it, could see it-when they died, she would no longer be 'Lillibet' she would always be 'Her Majesty, The Queen'. By Royal Decree(By Parliament's Law) The Queen cannot show emotion, public affection, etc. It is not allowed. I think it freakin' sucks. She was married for 73 years. Her heart MUST be broken. Yet-despite her grief, protocol insists that this be public, she must appear in public, etc etc. How many of us are now with a partner of 73 years? Would we want protocol dictated to US? It may have been 'beautiful' as you say but it certainly contained one serious mistake. Ever since her accession, the Queen has been correctly referred to as "Her Majesty" and not "Her Royal Highness". The latter is how princesses are styled and, therefore, not appropriate for the Queen who hasn't been "Her Royal Highness" since her father's death. If you're going to download commentary on such a subject, then make the effort to get it right! Some people do recognise the difference between the different royal titles!!

Did he get her a card, and if he did how would she feel, I'd expect reduced to weeping then happy he thought of her. The Queen is going through many emotionally charged events and hope the press lay off her, no wonder Victoria hid herself away in black, when she lost albert.

Yes, I think it was habit for her; for she always had done this, waiting for Prince Philip, who was always walking behind her, especially after arriving someplace. I think she hesitated, because she didn't see him & might have been momentarily confused & scanning the area for him quickly with her eyes. Then coming back to the realty that he was not there & never would be again, she turned forward again & began to walk, alone in her heart; for the robed Church Authority was right there to graciously escort HRM, the Queen, to her pew. But, oh, so completely alone in her heart. I am a widow of over 20 years, & for several years after the death of my beloved, when in public, I would think I had caught a slight glimpse of him just a head of me in the crowd, missing him so dearly, he was always at the forefront of my mind. But, alas, no. And forever, it would always be, "No."

It almost seemed like he was expecting to see her in the crowd of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Watching Prince Philip's funeral reminded me of that and how lost and sad my pop was after losing the love of his life. He even also wrote her a letter like the queen did. @@CarolWS004 I would love to do that and I have heard some stories from her, but it's very awkward and difficult to start the conversation, one because she is old and doesn't always comprehend what you are trying to say or talk about so you have to repeat it several times and possibly change how you say it so it's easier to understand. Even then very often I don't end up getting anywhere if she doesn't comprehend what I am talking about, so I am left feeling awkward especially since a few other family members are always around and witnessed my failed attempt to make conversation. There is also the fact that she is rather senile as I mentioned and in that sense she will not talk or have a discussion unless she wants to at the time. So for instance if she is in a bad mood even if it isn't outwardly apparent she will imply that she doesn't want to have a discussion, but she won't say so directly so you sort of have to read between the lines. I wish it was easier to talk to her, but I am glad I have been able to do it at least a few times.

It broke my heart to see her, so alone, so sad, so small. I'm not British and I'm not in favour of monarchy but what I saw was a woman, not a Queen. A human being whose life partner left her alone. I lost my Mum on my birthday 3 months ago and she was 93, a widow, small, but still talking about my Dad, the love of her life, who had passed many years before. And now I can see my Mum in the Queen. May their family take good care of her in this fragile stage of her life.

As a subject of Her Majesty, I am so deeply sorry for her loss. Prince Philip and The Queen have been the one constant through my parent's lives, my life and my children lives. I have been married for 33 years having met my wife ahead of 18 yrs and a day. Her Majesty fell in love aged 15. Prince Philip at 44 months older kept his distance until she was 18. Choosing to write letters to each other, they fell in love the way many of that generation did. They knew each other inside out via those letters. To lose him so close to her birthday, next Saturday 21st April will be another crushing day. For the first time in 77 years, she will have a birthday without him. I pray Her Majesty does not follow so many her age when they lose their life partner and follow within the year. Please God, bless this great woman, someone who has served her people around the world for so many years. Long may she reign.

As a widow, it's the little things you expect. The next phone call should be him, the next car door you hear close should be him coming up the walk.... It took many years for that to stop for me. The Queen was with her man far longer than I was with mine, she may deal with those things for the rest of her life.

I think when the Queen turned at her funeral she wasn’t just looking at all the people who had shown up. I think she was looking for Philip, who has been right behind her for the last 73 years. This is the first time in a very long time that she has gone out in public without him.

So sad for the queen, sitting alone through the service. My heart went out to her. In her words: "grief is the price we pay for love". Queen or not, what a beautiful union they had together. God bless the queen.

I think the Queen deliberately sat alone so she could draw support from her family being directly opposite her, all within her sight, and in return they could get support from her as they dealt with their own grief. Not easy to do if you are all in pews on one side. It would be like passing a packet of jaffas down the tow at the movies and someone misses out. They also had to meet the covid seating/spacing restrictions. Not easy to support each other while the world is watching one of the most personal events in one's life. I felt personally honoured that they shared their grief with us and thought the TV coverage showed extreme respect to their privacy while the public watched on.

I watched the funeral and there were a few times where I think her emotions got the best of her. There were a few times where she put her head down so low it hid her entire face. What she has had to endure in the past two years would break another woman. She is the strongest person I have ever had the honor to watch.

Elizabeth was alone in many ways......Philip was supporting her and taking on duties she may not even have been aware of. I expect, in her case, he was not as close to her as you would think. She did not visit him for that month he was at the hospital. Strange for elderlies who are "close" ; we hear they also lived in separate dwellings......also strange for old people. We truthfully know very little about their private lives. We know she loves her horses and her dogs......The people ? they can likely come and go. Andrew and Harry have both been huge disappointments....but she got used to that.......She is close to Anne and Edward ; and to Sophie, his wife ; not exactly sure how she really feels about Charles.....all the little kids....come and go.....and her job is really what makes her go forward. It has been her life, more than anything else. She will do it, until she drops, for sure. Her mother lived a long time so the Brits are not done with their Queen.

She is very busy as her life is not anything like anyone else. The last few years, after he retired, he moved to some cottage, to be by himself. Of course he had lots of servants.....and she visited him. She was and is the queen and that has always been her first duty. Her family came second.
