May I ask, why is the ق silent? Is it in almost every word that it is silenced? Thank you.
@spokenlevantinelebanesearabic
@spokenlevantinelebanesearabic 10 ай бұрын
The qaaf ق is pronounced mostly as a glottal ء stop in Lebanese. For example: A heart قلب ❤️= Qalb in standard arabic Alb is Lebanese 🇱🇧

@@spokenlevantinelebanesearabic yay! شكراً!! That makes so much more sense, I really appreciate your reply 🤗 I was always confused when people from different dialects pronounced قلب with the ق as I grew up hearing it as the ء.

When spelling my face in Lebanese, is there two ways to write it? wejje and weje?

One question. That transcript with Latin letters is the one use in internet for chatting? It's a bit confusing for pronunciation, like the "e". I heard some e like in "elefant"or others like in "bit" or also "seen". It's not better for pronunciation to use this Lebanese one?. I mean mainly for the vowels at least. www.lebaneselanguage.org/lll-system/lebanese-latin-letters/ Anyways I going the learn the Arabic alphabet too.

I am using a BCG latin transcription method for the MSA sites. I thought to just let it be informal here, since it is spoken, and since the pronounciation is provided. But it needs more thought for the next video. I could adopt the same method. Examole ş for ص and ț for ط, ā for ا áى ...

*In MSA وجهي wajhī the sound of i is long in the end. However in Lebanese it is wejjé, a short é.

@@spokenlevantinelebanesearabic ok, thanks. Also oo sometimes is confusing to know if it's a long sound open "o" or a short "u" like in "you" or even"good". English is not a phonetic language, Latin script was also adapted for that language so it has a lot of problems. Sure, listening the pronunciation really help to know the real sound but having a foreign ear to the language can lead to miss some sounds and I have to write it in someway to practice later. I've seen this problem in the really few Lebanese channels I found, using the rules of a non phonetic language like English where there are many spelling for a sound. One spelling of a letter, one sound and taking into account short and long sounds is the best. Thanks for answering, I like your video and the way you're teaching.

@@jguillermooliver thank you again for the reply and the link. I was looking at it. Trying to decide the best letter for é at the end of words, like "wejjé" my face. It's different to MSA. é as in résumé is the best I think. Something like: instagram.com/p/B8mWVU7laUO/?igshid=i78blvz2tm13

We have somethig called إمالة where the long vowel ā sometimes is sounded as é, kind of bending it. This is very common in Lebanese.

Don’t remove the music based off of one person’s opinion. I personally really enjoyed the music in the background and I hope it stays. It’s subtle, low in volume, not distracting, and makes the video more entertaining. Thank you!
