Here in Austria, Driving Schools teach this. Except the "hanging off" because it is not allowed to ride like this here. The cops stop you and you have to pay. This belongs to the race track. In Austria the first is called "legen" which means laying the bike and the second is "drücken" and that means, you push the bike and the body is almost upright. I really like these videos from you. You bring it easy to understand and explain what you do and what to do! Keep up your great work here on KZbin! Greetings from snowy Austria

Okay, learned something new today. It appears that coming from 15 years of mountain biking, at the beginning I was riding supermoto style, same as with mtb. Seems it's not wrong and it really feels better for some corners, although much worse for others. Now I know that's not wrong on a motorcycle but good in some situations.
@MotoJitsu5 жыл бұрын
If you think of right/wrong....you'll be confused a lot...a lot is personal preference. A lot if more about efficiency. Some things are the way they are, like emergency braking...there's a way to use the brakes to stop the fastest way possible and that's that...no debating. But things like body position all depends on so many variables. Plus your body position changes from the beginning, middle, and exit of any given corner.

Maybe do a step 5 when your throttle cable breaks wide open coming out of a corner on a straightaway? I'm just kidding but it's happened to me and it's not easy to make a corner without the motor or basically freewheeling through a turn. In what conditions would you use supermoto style over leaning off style (in the street -- offroad I'll prob still do dirt style)? I've tended to only use supermoto style with tight corners back when I had light bikes but now that I have an adventure bike, it doesn't feel natural anymore. Now I only do counterweighting with very low tight maneuvers.

do you have any recommendations on not turning in too early? I am aware that I do this, and it's far more pronounced in right hand corners for me. (I live in the UK) and we drive on the left. I am defaintely weaker in righter turns than lefts, but regardless i turn in too early on both. I ride most weekends and practice as much as I can but it's almost as if I have a mental block. I'm wondering if I just need to slow it right down, and reprogram my brain to pick the line better so overwriting the bad habit ?
@MotoJitsu5 жыл бұрын
I have 2 videos about line selection...but if you turn in too soon, you're limiting your vision and could have the chance of apexing early and going wide.
@kw12135 жыл бұрын
My non pro input would be that when you feel like you want to turn, instead move your body position first or simply stick a knee out and then turn. I personally have felt the same thing as you in the past regarding right handed turns, which is mostly just because it s a bit more awkward because your throttle is on the right side.
@rugershooter52685 жыл бұрын
You go where you look, you are looking at the inside of the curve before you get to the turn Pick the point on the road you want to start the turn, look there then when you get there turn your head to look inside the turn
@glynhannaford73323 жыл бұрын
I think Ruger Shooter has hit the nail on the head. What you are doing, reveals where you are looking. Here in UK, left hand bends are sometimes blind or partially obscured by walls, trees, fences hedges etc. Even where those things are absent, there's still a hard, stone kerb which we do not want to hit. All of these factors force us to concentrate on our own lane. Whereas on right hand bends we can see all of the road and often see much further ahead. My guess is that your eyes are straying into the opposite carriageway so that's where the bike wants to go. Plus, with the perception of more openness on right handers, you might subconsciously get on the gas a tad earlier than you do when negotiating a left hander.

Thanks in advance for any comments.
@MotoJitsu3 жыл бұрын
For faster turns, supermoto style will take away your ground clearance quickly and more lean is more risk...usually slower, tight turns (under 35mph or so) it may beneficial to do supermoto style but faster turns it's not too helpful.

FastEddie, you know a lot of bikes, so... Which one has the max leaning angle that allows one to touch the elbow to the ground? I ask this because: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3bVaXiiebWDn9E I know that one should always leave extra-leaning angle, just in case, but in your opinion what's the most lenient :) bike that one can buy? (I'm guessing lighter motocross bikes, with slicks for the road??) On a weight lighter bike there are more body position options to lean... in practice :) ?
@MotoJitsu5 жыл бұрын
There's many variables but the lean angle achievable is dependent on the ground clearance it has. I know people who drag elbow on a supermoto bike. So it depends on how tall the rider is and of course, skill. I don't comment much on the best of the best riders because their skill and knowledge is far beyond my experience I would only sound stupid to try to explain anything they do.

@@MotoJitsu your tutorials and explanations are one of the best, as you experiment with the limits and put it plainly in words ;) btw I found this, that's prolly it as max leaning goes kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqKuhJuMYs6Ba68 ...and btw I'm still waiting to get your book... Thank you for making new skills in our bodies by the power of simple words and always real life filming and laughing!! :) Gives us the confidence other "experts" don't inspire :o

Yes! I love that video...the next bike I get will be another Supermoto :)
@andreinastase41305 жыл бұрын
also if I may suggest www.stealthelectricbikes.com/ they said in a review you can't put it down leaning or skidding... btw I'm sure you can, depending on the tire or tired ;)

New rider here and I still got the fear of leaning too much and the bike will fall down.......

I normally love your videos, but I found this one hard to follow - particularly with the camera mounted on the top box.

That ok...many requested it.

Hey Fast Eddie, Have you heard of the Superman body position ? It consists in laying over the bike with one hand straight over the windscreen and the other on the throttle ! It’s a great technique for twistie roads.

Have not

But heres the thing you explain alot of your videos most of them on upright bikes not sport bikes do alot of these same concepts apply to both?

Hey man. Thanks for sharing all these beautiful stuff. Is your line selection related with the body position?

You're welcome. Not, they're not related at all...how would they be?

@@MotoJitsu I was thinking that due to difference in physics maybe you make slightly different choices. Thanks anyway!

@@ΓιώργοςΧριστ-γ7τ I'd take left-hand turns a little wider if you're going to lean off, you don't wanna lean into oncoming traffic

MotoJitsu yeah right! really? really? 🤩 the problem is, i do not know how many days should i stay? should i book a motel for a week or for a day? i mean; when you see how “untalented” i am for number 3 “way of riding”, you will send me home. and i would have to pay for a motel in advance. 😁 ps: don’t say it twice. i might really fly to san diego and roooooockkk the roads of america (on your bike) 😁

Great skill fast Eddy! You ride well ! You never used much counter steering ? You use your body weight well ..what kind of tires you use are they good quality for where you live are they allrounders good tyres is that the bike you use every day ? The BMW you have parked outside yr place ..has great crash bars etc protection 🤓
@MotoJitsu6 жыл бұрын
You have to counter steer to get the bike to initially lean.
@johncavar29146 жыл бұрын
