Saying “it’s not fat phobic to care about your health” should not hurt feelings

Novo Nordisk makes Victoza, Saxenda, Ozempic and Wegovy. Regarding being "fatphobic"... I stopped caring. If my losing 100 lbs and caring about my health, hurts your fee-fees, that's a YOU problem. I almost died. I had a stroke at 38. I. Almost. Died. I'm happily "fatphobic". I'm never going back.

Admitting being fat has negative side effects is not fatphobic. People have freewill and can do whatever they want, including being obese, but don't expect the rest of the world to lie and say there are no health consequences.

Dude congrats on your improved health. It’s so sad to see these people literally eat themselves to death…
@Loud20137 сағат бұрын
Yes, came to say Novo Nordisk being considered sus now is ridiculous! Having diabetes in my family means that they've been a household name for decades: Novo Nordisk has been a leader in diabetes treatment for almost a century. The company produces *half* of the world's insulin. In addition to diabetes drugs, Novo Nordisk also makes drugs for obesity, growth disorders, and hemostasis management. Hating on the company only makes sense to newbies to the insulin-related health management realm!!

@@Loud2013 absolutely agree. They also make lifechanging hormone replacement drugs for menopause and osteoporosis, which have been huge for my family. I’m not going to say we should blindly champion big pharma companies obviously, but there’s incredible lifesaving and lifechanging stuff going on that gets so lost in our society’s lack of acceptance of nuance

@dw1364519 сағат бұрын
People rely on others too much for their own validation, rather than finding it from their own internal work. It’s truly sad. They’re so insecure that they have to see themselves in others, and when that “other” starts to change because of their own autonomy, they panic.
@Jan7417 сағат бұрын
These people need to look inward. If someone else losing weight makes you feel judged about your weight, the judgement is coming from yourself. You need to deal with your own guilt for your actions and habits. People are not losing weight at you 😂.

Unfortunately the New York Times's reputation is above what their leadership and journalists can live up to sometimes. I have such conflicting feelings about it because I've seen them do impeccable journalism but I've also seen them double down on defending journalistic malpractice enough times that I kind of take the whole paper with a big grain of salt until what they have to say can be corroborated. All to say it doesn't surprise me that one of their sources felt misrepresented by NYT's editing choices. Gabriella really seems to have her heart in an earnest and loving place - from this end of the screen anyhow - and I hope she keeps getting opportunities to refine her voice.

Yea the NYT times suffers from relying on the morals of whoever is the specific writer/editor to me.

@Premium_jack That's a good way of putting it - and then leadership will defend a bad article to the death by basically saying "how dare you criticize the New York Times, don't you know our reputation."

I think that’s fine. Most of humanity’s crises come down to people being blinded by money and attention one way or another, it’s something we’re all guilty of. You don’t have to feel bad for someone you don’t know, so long as you can extend sympathy for the people in your community who might need it.

Fat bodies are still bodies. People need to take care of their bodies. You aren’t exempt from the rules of health . You are still pretty yes but like bro- take care about yourself. If you naturally are prone of gaining weight- it’s not an excuse to eff around with that. 😅 I love myself but I’m like -I need to be healthy. It’s like people who are obsessed with being like underweight it’s not a joke. Also not like- promoting drugs ..lol because that’s the opposite issue No one can afford that and also- you aren’t learning to be healthy. This woman just cares about money at the end of the day. She’s wrong about the bacon-every-day thing. Bacon is not the problem. I lost about 120 pounds while eating a lot of bacon almost every day, and all of my health markers are excellent after eight years of continuing to eat like that. It’s the ultra-processed carbohydrates and seed oils that are causing disease and obesity. That being said, it is disappointing that she backtracked at all. The body positivity movement has become dangerous, and we have a severe metabolic health problem in this country that must be addressed.
