I'm a petite hourglass with a bit of a middle aged middle. I've learned to tuck and/or belt and go with shorter and fitted. Love shoulder details and open-necked tops and flared high-waisted bottoms. I wish more women could be convinced not to hide behind long and baggy clothes. They would looks so much better if they followed the advice in this video!

I think most women get so frustrated with shopping, because we have an idea of what are size is in our mind, and then when we try it on, and it doesn’t fit, we personalize that and feel shame… then we go back to the clothes we already have because it’s more comfortable! BUY WHAT FITS AND SHOW OFF THOSE CURVES!

Nice finds! It made me want to point out the value of alterations. They sharpen the appearance so much Pants, jeans and skirts are usually easy to hem to the correct length. If the fabric is washable, definitely wash the garment before hemming to get rid of most of the shrinkage! You don't want to lose 1-2 cm after you've chosen the perfect length. I'd get the blazer sleeves professionally shortened; money well spent.

Fascinating to see your process pretty much from start to finish. I like how you keep your client focused, taking regular reality checks to make sure the pieces work together and fit the lifestyle. Do you ever get clients who fall in love with a garment you know they will rarely wear? How do you deal with it?

I start by understanding their lifestyle and then with that knowledge I present relevant clothes to them so if I know they won’t get a chance to wear something then I wouldn’t present it to them in the first place.

Thankyou for this video as this is the dilemma I am facing. When you have a balanced top and bottom if you go too baggy you look like a block and people think that is your shape especially if you petite in height but are slightly bigger in weight. A fabulous video! Thank you Melissa and Gail 🙏. I have had many aha moments when taking the Personal Styling Course and in all of your masterclasses even if they were not my body shape. But THIS masterclass was an eye opener. I can see some resemblance to myself and much better understand the process. I struggle so much with sizing and it is somewhat comforting that I am not the only one. Of course ordering several sizes is possible but the many returns certainly do not help the environment 😢.

Absolutely love your content! I’m tall with a short waist, long legs and large boobs. I do have a thicker waist due to 3 kids in 3 years than an eventual 120 lb weight loss. I’m always trying to balance things out with clothes that are more tailored as I dislike babydoll, ruffles, tiers or smocked anything. Keep teaching us how to look modern and current.
