As you are not a German speaker, you might not have caught it, but half of the song is in Russian aswell. In the GDR, you'd be taught Russian in school, which is why Lindemann can speak it.
@Frank-zw7gn2 жыл бұрын
As nasty as the lyrics are, people in russia go crazy when Rammstein play it live, it's great, also Lenin founded the Russian Communist Party, led the Bolshevik Revolution and was pretty much the architect of the Soviet state, a very influential man in history

This song can be interpreted in a different ways (most of Rammstein songs . Moscow talks about dark and beauty sides of this city, using analogies, metaphors or something related Russia to give a deep meaning in lyrics. In addition, Russian fans loves so much this song anytime Rammstein play it in live shows.

to be honest i think for Till moscow really is the most beautyful city in the world and it´s not sarcastic. but you need to have money to enjoy moscow.

I totally get that you can't understand the pioneers reference. But how on earth could someone not know who Lenin is?
@DaniSpeh2 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's a love-hate relationship or at least it's more love. He loves Moscow, Moscow loves him back, but only if you have money. Moscow on it's own will not give you much if you don;t have money. He also sings about the communist past of Moscow and the soviet union. Moscow, with exception of the historical core, wasn't a particularly beautiful city, more a grey one with all the soviet style buildings that were about efficiency and not so much about design. After the 90's money rebuilt the city and Moscow got a more flashy appearance. The part where the girls sing about pioneers and Lenin is about the communist past. The "uniform" resembles what would kids wear when they accepted to the pioneers (a communist youth organization, when they reached 10 years or something like that, maybe even earlier). Lenin was the first head if govt. in soviet Russia, so you can say he was the father of communism in Russia.
@miketyukanov17482 жыл бұрын
Rammstein's trolling was well-accepted because it was true, and because they trolled Moscow lovingly, as a true natives would. This song catches the spirit of 2000s Moscow perfectly. She was just as he describes her, an unbelievable mix of postcommunist drabness, new wealth, lust for money, personal freedom and creativity, completely uninhibited sexuality, crime, arts, IT-wizards, terrorists, lots of expats enjoying themselves in near-anarchic environment, free to say and do what they wouldn't dare back home. Now it's all gone. Till knows it, and when he threw up on the Red Square and smoked a cigarette in "Ich hasse Kinder", it was deliberate.

1. You should definitely know who Lenin was. 2. you should know where Rammstein comes from and what era they come from 3. you should know that there was a cold war and associated with it a iron curtain. 4. you should know, which girl band it was. 5. You should know which languages Till Lindemann can speak

Rammstein has always had a very big love for Russia, no idea why but I suspect that some band members had Russian in school in the GDR and therefore know a few Russian words, maybe that's why???? Rammstein has brought out songs where especially in countries that really "idolize" the band and the band dedicates a tribute: "Moskau" - Russia "Te quiero puta" - Mexico "Frühling in Paris" - France That's what you call "customer loyalty" The funny thing about it is that in Germany itself they are STILL looked at very critically (especially by the media) because of the "dark times" around Hitler, and simply serve the cliché of the tough Germans. Be it musically/lyrically (with the rolled "R", although this comes automatically when you sing as low as Till) as well as by the stage sets (fire, much steel etc.pp.) The newest "scandal" was with the song Deutschland.....Da the video clip among other things NS clothes and inscriptions saw uvm. That's why I love this band so much, always provocative and do not correspond to the mainstream! 🤣😅🤣

Well all 6 are coming from the GDR and yes they had Russian at school, while others had English at school. Till was the past two years very often in Russia. I have the feeling, that he knows it a "bit better". The same is with French, Spanish and English. Never underrate a Lindemann. 😉 Enjoy the rest of the day.
