Playing the piano stands for playing with love. He held his breath because he was fascinated by her playing and by her. When he found out that she was only toying with his love and not just toying with him, he poured her blood into the fire of his anger (he murdered her out of jealousy). When he, the perpetrator, started his game (the murder), she held her breath. The rest simply describes the grief of the mother, the anger of the father and an emotionally intangible because mentally ill man, who went from being a victim to a perpetrator. Moral of the story, don't play with someone's love as it can cause a lot of suffering!

I belive that would be the correct explaination, as the band Maerzfeld did somewhat of a simmilar thing in their video named Hübschlerin... Now, not to say they were inspired by Rammstein, but they were :D

Also, my take is this. He fell in love with a pianist who is famous. He grows jealous of her performances for important people, afraid he will lose her love. She promises she only plays for him even though he clearly sees a lot of handsome men in the audience who could steal her away. So he locks them in a room, kills her (his "performance") and her parents eventually kick the door down to find them. Of course as a narcissist, his only thought is "what about me over here suffering?". Till can really conjure up some incredible stories with his words!!!!!

Till: “”Klavier” is my favorite song on the CD. It's about the passion and madness of a killer. I've been working on the text for two years. It began as a harmless romantic love poem to a piano teacher and then evolved into the grotesque and surreal.”.

I see it as a young piano teacher and the student can't stand the idea of her teaching also other people so he kills her.

Till's lyrics are simply brilliant. He gives listeners/readers just enough to develop their own thoughts about the story being told. I see in the song a broken family with parents, son and daughter, completely dominated by the whims of the violent father. The children have retreated to their rooms in the home because they feel reasonably safe there. Perhaps they also used to lock the doors because they felt safer that way. They swore to each other that they would always be there for each other. Time went by and the sister is planning to leave the house because she met someone else. Her brother felt betrayed by her and eventually strangled her. The parents finally noticed that the daughter disappeared and demanded that the door be opened. The father, who has always been violent, once again lashes out at the son and the mother doesn't know how to help herself other than to scream. In the end, the son has become as violent as the father.

What is heard about the lyrics is that Its about a man who falls in love with his Piano teacher. And this man really thinks she loves him back. But when he realises it he goes in a rage and soon murders her and Now thinks that she's always playing for him. In the end he hears her play the piano and also that the police has arrived to arrest this man while as his parents are also watching him get arrested. So what i heard is that It's not his mom who plays the piano.

actually it's not about the piano. the piano is just a metaphor for love, and she played love. he found out that her piano playing (love) wasn't real. your reaction is the best here in youtube. it's a lot of fun to watch your videos. Greetings from Berlin Germany

Klavier is about a man who loved the way his girlfriend played the piano so much he locked her away in the attic. One day her parents and the police make the man open the door and they see their beautiful daughter tied to the piano dead.

A song that describes violent processing of a lover's infidelity. The piano playing stands for the intimacy between the lyrical I and the pianist, who thinks that the piano playing only sounds for him. In fact, the pianist also plays for others.

The album "Sehsucht" where this song is on it is a masterpiece, what lyricism concerns. Also other song like "Tier" ("Animal,") "Küss mich Fellfrosch"( "Kiss me Furry Frog"), "Jealousy" (Eifersucht) where on this album are, are Lyrical Masterpieces!!!!😍😍😍

Thanks for the reaction. The song brings the following picture to my mind. It's a relationship between a younger brother and an older sister, but as you mentioned, with a dark ending. I think this is not a story about someone becoming a murderer, but a story about a person who is desperate to lose something they love. In the text/song you had to force him to reveal his secret. Or rather, he didn't want to lose her in life or in death, but wanted to keep her forever. Rammstein has several songs about sibling relationships, which unfortunately usually end very tragically for one of the siblings and always end with mental problems for the other. There is always a common thread, mostly not in the same album, but from album to album. Watch it.

I always thought it was like this: boy loves girl, adores her piano play Girls seems to have found another love. He does an overkill on her(strangling her/bloody keys) and locks the door for a long time Parents are looking for her, smell her dead body and force him to open the door. She sticks to the blood stained piano keys

Holding your breath means listening to something and not daring to breathe so as not to miss a sound. When he sings when my game starts he says he strangled her. That's why she's holding her breath. He killed his love out of jealousy and left the corpse behind the door at the piano.

Interesting thing about the way Till misleads the listener: it appears at the beginning that the lyrics are metaphorical, such as blood and the piano, but then turn out to be literal, as in the body was literally bleeding, tied to the piano, and hidden in a room

They actually don't say untie, they say severe, it's a misconception a lot of people have about the song,. He didn't bind her to it but she in fact had been dead at the piano that long that it had merged together with her decomposing body, that's what he also means when he says he is deathly sick from the stench

@tomholzapfel25252 жыл бұрын
I hhink its just about what is said in the song. You have got to keep in mind that german is an excellent language to play with word and Till Lindemann is a master at it. So its simply about a guy, who loves a piano player, but its a sick love - he thinks she only loves him and is full of jealousy - but actually to his ill feeling she ceated on him. As he is obviously insane about her only love for him, he kills her out of a fit of rage and jealousy... and leaves her corpse on the piano and locks the door. Of course the corpse starts to stink and people ask about her, because she vanished. Its her parents , who demand opening the door and find her dead corpse. Everybody thinks he is insane, so nobody believes him that he is full of grief about her death - and also the stench became more and more unbearable... The actual master piece is the play of words: First he is holding his breath when shes playing, than she s holding her breath (for ever), when his play began, i.e. when he kills her. This is typical for Rammstein. You ll find similar play of words in most songs.

he only helds his breath when she starts to play the piano. You are probably right, that when she was playing the piano, he was probably abused by his father and because of the loud played piano no one outside the house could hear him suffer. BUT when HIS playing began, she did not only hold her breath, she stopped breathing because he killed her! for all that he had to endure unter the cover of the loud noise cancelling sound of the play of his mother at the piano...
@tomholzapfel25252 жыл бұрын
nope. In German "I hold my breath" means I am listening in total awe to some abolutly great music, i hold my breath not to miss a single note. Holding his breath because he is abused, while she plays piano, is somewhat very farfetched, if you know German.
@citycobra50142 жыл бұрын
@@tomholzapfel2525 Yes, you are right, that it could mean what you wrote, because normally it would mean what you wrote (i am german, too). But knowing Rammstein, where nothing seems to be normal, my interpretation sounds more logical to me, and not too farfetched. In my opinion that phrase is open for interpretation. And that is what i interpret. i might be wrong, but it could also be that i am right🙂

what i get from the song is that he made a fantasy in his head that she was playing for him but she was just playing for the love of it he took it the wrong way he was absence with her and he lost his mind when he found out it was not like that and he held her hostage for himself and when they found out her parent were horrified and they wound not belive him that she was only playing for him only and illusion on his own head that made him take her for his own against her will

I think the father was violent towards the son. And meanwhile my mother sat down at the piano and played. She looked away instead of helping the son. It is not uncommon for a mother not to intervene when the father is violent towards the children. For this failure to provide assistance, he eventually killed her and took revenge.

Its a romance gone horribly wrong, in a very fucked way; He thought that she was as much in love with him as he was with her, which obviously wasnt the case. He was fascinated when she played the piano, but unfortunately he wasnt the only one. He found out that she was not as much invested in them as he was, so he made sure that she never would play the piano for anyone else by murdering her and left her corpse to rot in front of the piano.
@DeHerg2 жыл бұрын
Come on it's bloody obvious. The singers girlfriend used to play at the piano for him. Girlfried has an affair, singer murders her in rage and leaves the corpse at the piano. Parents of dead girlfriend demand singer opens the door(to the piano room). When they open it, they find her dead body(which is why the father beats him and the mother cries). Its not that complicated.

I admire how you deal with text interpretation. I am not aware of any musician or Band that expresses itself so poetically and brutally with experienced and human behavior. Rammstein is in a class of its own. Rammstein is the reason I took German classes in school, we had teachers from Germany in Twin Falls, Idaho. I still can't speak German very well ... but I understand the lyrics and have to realize that English is not a good language to translate the subtleties of the German language. The puns Rammstein use in their lyrics are not translatable and I guess you have to be German to enjoy Ramstein lyrically as well. Thanks for your reaction, I really like most of yours. A Rammstein fan since I listen to music consciously. Greetings.
