You're quite off here. The story goes: The "father" is trying to fertilize the "mother" which is infertile. The sperm is fine, but the womb is not susceptible. When the "father" is working the field he's chosing masturbation over the "mother" which breaks her heart, The "children" are the sperm. Rising from within the skin, is ejaculation & telling them to remember each of them as a potential child that is not coming to be. Then the "father" cheats on the "mother" (Fathers heart has gone lost) which then breaks her heart in two. Quotation marks on mother father and children in my comment is because they are not a mother father or child.

The part "Wo ich mich selber ausgesät, ein Herz in toter Erde steht" could mean that the mother eventually became pregnant but it was a failed birth (don't know the English term for this). Herz in toter Erde / Heart in death earth Heart= The Child that began to grow Dead Earth= The mothers body, which can't perform a successful birth It would fit because the mothers body is already referred to as dead earth earlier (Der Boden nicht fruchtbar war) And because of that failed birth, the father lost his heart and the heart of the mother broke. So I'm not too sure, if the chorus is actually referring to the father cheating on the mother or about masturbation. I just think it's really about them trying to get the mother pregnant and when it finally works, the child dies in her body and the pregnancy fails. Which then makes them loose their hearts (which could refer to the end of the relationship)

This song came on the single to Mein Land, and was never on an album. It is far far from one of their more famous songs ( Think it's even the least popular song on spotify in terms of streams), but it is still a gem! And the pictures you saw were indeed band members, it's the album covers for their "Bestof" album Made In Germany ;) You can see them in the Zeit video and also Deutschland I think

I think the song is about the urge to reproduce and leave something behind. To live on after his death through the children, not to be forgotten. The mother doesn't get pregnant and later she might have a miscarriage. At least that's how I interpret the lyrics.

My Interpretation is they wanted to have kids..but she couldn't get pregnant or the pregnancy would in a miscarriage..so him tending the fields is i believe he's sleeping around probably wants to have kids or more kids. The wife is broken hearted because she's unable to get pregnant or the pregnacy ends in miscarriage.

To me it's about having to choose between going to work, and make that money or staying home with my children, broke. The fathers sacrifice. Or maybe about a child who passed, like a miscarriage or something.

The children rose from within the skin is his ejaculation and when came out they were singing cause well they were free...so i think they were trying to get pregnant but everytime they tried she would miscarry so the father would lose a piece of his heart each time..so in the end the father lost his heart and the mothers heart broke in 2 to me that means shes broken hearted at not being able to arry a baby to full term and broken hearted because her husband probly blames her?
