@@RandomizerLabYep you’re spot on, a lot of guys think the more you go the better but there is such a thing as overtraining. Your body doesn’t grow in the gym it grows when you are resting/sleeping so you need adequate time for your body to have a chance to repair and grow. Most people can get excellent results from going 3 times a wk, consistently, as mentioned above. Anymore is better suited to genetically advantaged, drug assisted competitive bodybuilders. Your average Joe doesn’t fit in that category.

Do you think people will come and see this video and be like "Oh Imma screw my maid , because I love Arnold" Even most of the people don't know that thing. @Zombies8MyPizza6 жыл бұрын
I genuinely think he might be the greatest man who ever lived. You get men who dedicated their lives to a craft, became millionaires etc, and it's ridiculously impressive... but that wouldn't have been good enough for Arnold. He got into bodybuilding and he wants to be the greatest bodybuilder in the world... then he does it. Then he's like "right, best bodybuilder in the world, tick... now I want to be the best action movie star in the world". Then he goes and does that too. Then he's like "Right, done that now... I think I might run for governor of California". Does that too. Not only is that all something very, very few people will ever accomplish, but also, if you read his autobiography, the hurdles and challenges he had to go through to achieve what he wanted to do were often huge, but he didn't let anything stand in his way. Literally incredible.

@@kolaignad6495 Again, though, all were practically dedicated to one craft, whilst Arnold conquered many. There's the Jack of all trades, master of none... well, Arnold is a master of all trades.
@kolaignad64956 жыл бұрын
@@Zombies8MyPizza Interesting discussion I guess. I still disagree though. Arnold was only a master in bodybuilding. He was a successful film star, but not good enough to be considered a 'master' - definitely A list though. And as for governor, he did ok. Nothing amazing, averaging around a 50% approval rating. So a great individual sure, but to compare him to someone who literally conquered everything from Greece to India thousands of years ago or to the first man to ever reach space puts it into perspective. I look at it like this. 1000 years from now, Abarham Lincoln, or Yuri Gagarin will still be in history textbooks. Arnold probably won't.

This video is really important. A lot of people and especially older people need to know that you have to really work those muscles. I see so many people just cruising and using super light weights. That helps to tone but if you want to build real muscle you need to push it harder with more resistance.

A true bodybuilding icon! I have been following him since I was a teenager and he was the reason I started my fitness journey. His workout videos were inspiring to me. I gave my best and trained hard for years, but I was hardly getting any muscle, only to find out that my diet was nowhere near as it should've been. I've always eaten "just enough" thinking it would be sufficient. My first real diet plan taught me the lesson. I remember getting it online from a website (I guess it's called dietarize), but somehow it helped me gain a few pounds in my first month of using it. Surely it wasn't all pure muscle, but I was happier than ever. Thanks Arnold for everything you did for bodybuilding!!

Man I never appreciated Arnold’s physique until now! I wish I would have committed to working out when I was younger but it’s never to late! I’ve been 6 months in and I’ve come a long way since the beginning. This is so motivating!
@DrStench133 жыл бұрын
Make sure to not give up after you get the beginner gains and stall for a long time. After a year it will become harder to keep motivated because you will see long periods of no progression. That's my own experience at least. I'm probably also doing a lot of things wrong, though. Just keep training anyway! It's the best habit to have.

Theres days I come home and don’t feel it but when I look in the mirror and see the progress it definitely sparks the motivation back! I really don’t have much going on in my life besides work and the gym lol Feeling and seeing the gains is definitely my new drug!
@marcusterrazas63093 жыл бұрын
@@KaotikArtPurrps Keep it going!! I'm on the same path. Let's get it!! All I've seen from the Pumping Iron movie and from all of Arnolds interviews is that everyone motivated each other back then. I'm not sure that I see that at the gym I go to. I'd love to continue that type of motivation. Let's work hard and get those extra 3rd, 4th and 5th reps!
@DrStench133 жыл бұрын
@@KaotikArtPurrps it's good to have at least one or two weeks off from lifting every so often. You have to develop a feeling for that. Rest is the thing that makes you stronger. And for this to be sustainable as a life style, you have to take a step back and not be too strict at times. Think about periodization. But most importantly it has to stay fun for you. I'm sure you'll figure it out.

I'm seven weeks into my training after starting from absolute zero (I couldn't do three pushups, even though I'm a healthy weight) and I'm really starting to see results. My upper body is really coming along and I can't believe the changes that have occurred in 7 weeks of intense training. I'm in the gym five/six days a week for a minimum of two hours. 12 reps, 5 sets with 90 seconds rest in-between sets, always doing a full body workout. Unlike other beginners at my gym who were at my level starting out, I'm sweating, breathing heavily and working out until failure. They are doing half-baked reps with 5-10 minutes of phone time in-between sets and they are wondering why they are not gaining muscle. I guarantee that they'll quit within a few months of now. I am utterly addicted to the gym and the pump. I cannot tell you how much better I feel throughout the day after working out properly. My mental health has improved exponentially. Plus, I have SO MUCH more energy now. I know I have years of work ahead of me but I'm in this for the long haul. The gym is literally the best part of my day. I just don't understand these people who hate the gym/find excuses not to go. Perhaps they are the sort of people I described above who don't workout properly and wonder why they are still overweight/not gaining muscle. If you are thinking about joining a gym and starting to work out, DO IT! DO IT NOW. I promise you that if you workout properly, it'll absolutely change every part of your life for the better! If I can do then so can you!

Arnold actually talks about this on the episode of Howard Stern where he was interviewed. Back in the 70s the rules were different. For one you had to be part of some other sport to bodybuild. You had to play football or track and field or something useful. So you had to actually be able to do something with your muscles. Secondly appearance was important. In modern body building its all about size. It doesn't make any sense. I would say the closest thing to old school body builders we have today is actually pro wrestlers like WWE people- your John Cenas, Ryback, Brock Lesnar etc. while pro body building has just become disgusting.
@tunim43545 жыл бұрын

@Aldo Apache yeah my comment was more about the fact that bodybuilders today eat unhealthy junk foods as cheat meals in large portions, sth thT isn't healthy at all. He was so much much ahead of his time. You can only imagine how good he could have been 20-30 years later with all the knowledge of training, better food/supplements, healthcare, drugs etc

You're wrong. They had everything at that time. If this were to happen then there would just be one difference - arnie would be a mass monster and have bubble gut. I think you aren't into bodybuilding

I think people have always underestimated how smart Arnold is and he took advantage of it. He was not just a body builder or actor he had a great mind and insight.
@danlechlak11832 жыл бұрын
I have seen most of Arnold's interview's, nobody ever got the best of him intellectually. He could and would disarm an opponent with humor, a smile and leave them apologizing for questioning him! Legend

Arnold was already rich when he got his first leading role. Cinema was just another trade for him as he had already mastered several beforehands yielding great results through smart investments.

Came here to say the same thing. I was like, "That's it?" The fact he can remember verbatim his training 40 years ago is impressive. The fact he has a great sense of humor about it is pretty amazing. You look at him doing flys and squats and you can tell the guy was in some serious pain. Overall, a well put together video.
