I hate making hay during planting season, but here goes nothing. At least this cover crop makes a few dollars instead of wasting it on rye.

So you're making what 5X5 bales there or are they a little smaller?? Look smaller maybe. Trying to keep the weight down or what? That chain baler roll them pretty tight then? I make 5x5.5 foot to 5x6 foot bales with my old Ford 552 round baler, but even with the density valve screwed in all the way they're not very tight bales, which is to be figured for a baler its age I suppose (40 years old at least). Haven't had any complaints from the cows. They can be a little heavy for the small tractors, the 2310 and the Mahindra 2538, but it handles them fine. I need to upgrade balers fairly soon and was just wondering what you thought about the chain balers, gotchas and things you like/don't like, how it handles different hay types, experiences, etc. Been looking at JD balers mostly but I'm not opposed to something different if I had some good reports and the right deal came along... Later! OL J R :)

4x4.5. I like this 848 for bale density and quality. But it has its cantankerous moments sometimes starting a bale and occasionally with the net wrap. The old 845 would eat anything and always start a bale without hassle. But they were softer and string tied. I like chain balers for being able to see the bale, and there's less to burn.

Yeah, that got pretty invasive in my area about 10 or 15 years ago. It seems like it comes and goes up on its dominance depending on the year makes great Forage if you can get it early otherwise it completely ruins a bale of hay nothing will eat it. Yup I’ve got a John Deere to sell on there that does all my raking.

If you bump up to a super H or 300 instead of a regular one fourth gear is a good amount faster makes it much more user-friendly 5.2 To 6.6 mph makes a difference

Hi Jacob have you try out mowing with the Pottinger mower that you bought last year?
