Men... Use the hand holder (at the lower part of door) to pull the door out. This provides more safety to operation and maintain the door clean (haha). Greetings.

Trey Pohe I think you are referring to 757. Back in the late 80’s there was a whole thing because a flight attendant couldn’t open the door. Then it was redesigned and updated to make it easier but it still is pretty hard. I am pretty strong but it was still hard to do when I did from the outside

Awesome presentation. I do have the following question though: "I noticed a flap at the bottom lip of the door fold inwards/upwards, what is this flap and why does it move that way?"
@Maxime-pk6cu5 жыл бұрын
Its to make an (almost) air tight seal to preserve and/or control pressure in the cabin; plugging the door snug.

If you look at the picture showing the exterior side of the door at the beginning of the video, you can see a line at the bottom of the door. That part is folded when the door is unlocked.

I absolutely HATE the doors on the 737! It looks so much easier to operate in this video because the actor is standing on a proper staircase with a lot of space to stand on, but when you're doing maintenance and get sent outside to open a 737 that's been standing in the icy winter weather overnight, and all you have is a small slippery staircase to stand on with wet shoes, the pant-shitting battle of trying not to slip and fall while juggling a heavy and stupidly overcomplicated door is guaranteed.

@737Garrus6 жыл бұрын
Why so much hate on the 737 door? The 737 door makes so much more sense VS airbus doors. Notice how the door begins by moving inboards, THEN outboards, that's because the door is bigger than its opening. Airbus doors can't be this way becaue they open amost instatnly outwards (they move up roughly an 2~ish 3 centimeters (1 ~ 1.5 inches)) before moving directly outboards. Notice the "flaps" on the top and bottom edge of the 737 door, they fold inward to make the door short enough for the outboards swing where it passes the opening that is smaller than the door itself.
@alfa23245 жыл бұрын
Samuel Karlsson same thing with airbus doors they are all plug type and have smaller flaps on bottom and or top during closing procedures. Airbus doors are armed via a lever so you never break your nails with that dirty girt bar and no need to bend down 8 times on 4 sectors.

That chick nearly snapped the hinge, OMG. This is why flying scares me, people without common sense are ensuring the plane doesn't decompress and explode my head while she lets the door slop around like a fish. What an a-hole. You can see where the maintenance guys had to refit the panels around the outside hinges, I wonder why, da, the little girl slops the door real fricken hard five-six times a day.
